Information:

Founded in March of 2007, A World Power was once one of the largest regions in Nationstates, and is currently re-building to its former glory! We as a region hold no specific political ideology, but nations organise themselves into Great Houses of likeminded individuals. The leaders of the three largest Houses form a Triumvirate which is responsible for leading the region. We believe in open elections for all citizens of our region and operate a one of the major defender forces in the game, which protects regions across Nationstates from invasion.

Welcome to A World Power!

Our forum acts as the hub of our community, and is where our Government, Citizens Assembly, and Regional Defence Force are coordinated. But it's not all serious business! The legendary Rucket Park is full of polls, spam games and nonsense chat, our Role Playing Pavilion is the place for all your roleplaying needs, and the A World Power Center is where we get to know each other.

So, first things first, I would like to thank the creators the mod we are using. They can be found at: http://dynamo.viralsmods.com/

Next, we can discuss getting a proper economic system running. Currently, the mod will grant you $2-5 per post and $3-5 per topic made. Personally, I like this system as it gives the currency a bit of randomness. Also, I've installed a lottery system on the mod, which you should be able to view under the User CP at the top right of the page. There's a test lottery running now, so be sure to check it out.

Let me know if you encounter any bugs.

Oh, and old members, please check the other topic in this thread, so I can convert your old posts into money.

Biggest problem/feature with an economy - what is it to be spent on? Money without a purpose is - well, valueless. E-Peen.

Mhm, I have a few ideas floating around in my head. Mainly, the mere existence of an economy looks good for recruiting, even if the economy isn't particularly active.

People can always open business like they did in the old Marketplace, featuring things like graphic design and gambling (the lottery feature will certainly help with the latter).

I think I'm also going to open up the AWP Newspaper industry, allow people to pay a fee to start their own paper. Then, they can have people pay to subscribe or runs ads, if they wish.

Recruiters and RDF members could be paid, etc.

But, like you said, the main problem is finding things to spend the money on, which was always a problem in the old economy. We had things here and there to spend money on (business licenses, political adds, etc.), but nothing really substantial or necessary.

At the end of the day, I highly doubt our region will be focused around an economy, but I think it's a nice thing to have. :)
