Information:

Founded in March of 2007, A World Power was once one of the largest regions in Nationstates, and is currently re-building to its former glory! We as a region hold no specific political ideology, but nations organise themselves into Great Houses of likeminded individuals. The leaders of the three largest Houses form a Triumvirate which is responsible for leading the region. We believe in open elections for all citizens of our region and operate a one of the major defender forces in the game, which protects regions across Nationstates from invasion.

Welcome to A World Power!

Our forum acts as the hub of our community, and is where our Government, Citizens Assembly, and Regional Defence Force are coordinated. But it's not all serious business! The legendary Rucket Park is full of polls, spam games and nonsense chat, our Role Playing Pavilion is the place for all your roleplaying needs, and the A World Power Center is where we get to know each other.

I'll start this off: I have a computer running Windows XP, a computer running Ubuntu 11.04 (Linux distro) and a computer with a dual-boot system running both XP-64 and Ubuntu 10.10 64-bit. I need to re-install Ubuntu though, because that was my first dual-boot, and the partition sizes were off.

I'm no good with computers or anything, but I still have seven.

I have a Dell desktop thing, not sure of what... well.. anything about it. Except it runs Vista.
I have a Compaq desktop from circa 2005, and it runs XP.
I have a Compaq laptop from circa 2007, and it runs Vista.
I have two identical acer laptops, that I picked up from my sister and her boyfriend in about 2009, and they both run Vista.
I have two Macbooks, both running OS X 10.6.7.
A genrally smart guy.

I suggest installing Linux on one of the laptops to try it out. You can download an installer and boot to a USB stick, and install Ubuntu around the existing OS for a dual-boot. Or, you can wipe it entirely and go completely to the dark side. I like Ubuntu for everything except gaming, really.

I, fairly recently, had to drag most of the computers in the house to the shop in ones and twos (everybody's was down for one reason or another, or at least ailing) - one thing I did have done was to put them all on Windows 7. This did not make me universally popular, (although the upgrades many of them got at the same time helped with that) but tech support for the kids is a hell of a lot easier now that everyone is running the same thing.

....and I thought I had too many computers

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad laptop, a HP laptop, a Dell custom desktop, and another customised desktop. the Lenovo is on Win 7, HP and Dell on Vista, and the other custom desktop on XP Pro.
