Information:

Founded in March of 2007, A World Power was once one of the largest regions in Nationstates, and is currently re-building to its former glory! We as a region hold no specific political ideology, but nations organise themselves into Great Houses of likeminded individuals. The leaders of the three largest Houses form a Triumvirate which is responsible for leading the region. We believe in open elections for all citizens of our region and operate a one of the major defender forces in the game, which protects regions across Nationstates from invasion.

As Inspector Numero looked around the office of Pulangi, Greekamerican said, "I touched nothing - except the desk telephone. I called you right away."

Pulangi's body lay on the threadbare carpet behind his desk. Near his right hand was a large French pistol.

"Tell me what happened," snapped the inspector.
"Pulangi asked me to come here," began Greek. "Then right off he started raving about his wife and me.
"I told him he was way out. But Pulangi has a red-flag temper. I couldn't calm him down. He doesn't know what he's doing when he goes crazy mad.
"Suddenly he jumped up and shouted 'I'm going to kill you!' With practically one motion he yanked open the top drawer of his desk and took out a gun and fired at me. He missed. I shot back immediately. It wasn't murder it was self-defence."

The inspector inserted a pencil into the barrel of the big French pistol and lifted it from beside the corpse. Opening the top desk drawer, he thoughtfully slid the gun inside.

"Greekamerican's a private investigator," the inspector told Neas that night. "His pistol is registered to him. It fired the death bullet."
"We found the bullet from the French pistol in the wall opposite the desk - the shot Greek says Pulangi fired first. The pistol bears Pulangi's fingerprints, but he didn't have a license for it, and we can't trace it."

"You charged Greekamerican with murder, I hope?" said Neas.

"Of course"

How did the inspector know that Greekamerican wasn't telling the truth and he has murdered Pulangi?

Greek fired back immediately, implying that he came in with a gun himself? Why would he want to bring a gun with him when Pulangi merely asked to see him?

He was planning to use it all along. Either way, the bolded part is when I started to get suspicious. Oh well even if I am wrong that is my interpretations on it.

I don't have a wife. That is a lie so therefore Greek is a liar. If Greek is a liar he must have shot Pulangi on purpose.

Dont worry, Ten Stars will be in the next one!

Answer

Greek claimed that he had "touched nothing," and that Pulangi "with practically one motion" had opened the drawer, taken out the gun, and fired.
Even a less hot-tempered man would have never bothered to close the drawer after pulling out the gun with intent to kill. The inspector found the drawer closed, remember?
