Ok, I see that we had like 2 or 3 bills that were voted on by members of the senate who were out going, and members who came in, and there's been what seems like a lot of disorganization. Liberty stepped up to keep the timelines in place and everything, but that won't work as he's fast tracking things and not telling people why, as personal as it may be. I think we should look at re-instating this position, as now we have timelines to adhear to, someone who can move passed laws into the passed laws section, and post remiders on when votes end and such. It's clear we really can't keep ourselves organized, I mean, right now we have 3 votes pending, another 2 or 3 pieces of legislation started, and we have high senate activity levels. It's important that all these things get monitored with the laws we passed. What are your thoughts on doing this? |

If we did it we should do it from within the Senate body so we can be sure the Secretary is paying attention to Senate matters. Sort of like a Speaker being elected, its not a bad idea |

It could, but I was never really a fan of a secretary of the senate having voting or influencing powers. It opens the door to corruption. A non voting member would never have the reason to weigh in, because we can turf them if they do, and it keeps us in line. |

Yeah I agree, I only have enough activity to try and git things through, not enough to also monitor the senate, and neas is inactive, and everyone else, I imagine, has the same problem as me. |

I thought we had the original Secretary of the Senate bill still in effect, just not filled. If that's not the case, let me know, I'd be happy to try my hand at writing something. |

I don't think the old bill really fits as that was when Senate discussions were private. The Secretary wouldn't be here to provide reports and freedom of information, instead to moderate discussions and move legislation on. |

Okay, give me a couple of days to try and whop up something. :not a voting member of the Senate; :empowered to control debate; :empowered to start and call votes; --the last two both in accordance with applicable laws. Any other points I should keep in mind? |

responsible for adding passed laws to the record (ie copying the final voted on legislation and posting it in the passed laws thread) and maybe keeping a record of the names of bills that are defeated... |

You could place it under the responsibilities of the Vice Delegate (just to be clear I wouldn't personally want to do the extra admin associated with this) as the VD is already an non-voting member of the senate. Plus it would give the person who actually holds this position a bit more to do in relation to the position. |

Could I just point out that I would expect someone else to be appointed VD if this came to pass as I don't really have the time to do the extra admin if I am going to be doing work on the economy (wether under a minister position or not). |

That'll be up for debate. And if the proposal I have up for comment gets through unscathed and passes, the VD could still plead they don't have the time, and we'd have to find a separate secretary. the GENERAL intent is for it to be the VD, though, as they're already involved here. |
