Information:

Founded in March of 2007, A World Power was once one of the largest regions in Nationstates, and is currently re-building to its former glory! We as a region hold no specific political ideology, but nations organise themselves into Great Houses of likeminded individuals. The leaders of the three largest Houses form a Triumvirate which is responsible for leading the region. We believe in open elections for all citizens of our region and operate a one of the major defender forces in the game, which protects regions across Nationstates from invasion.

Welcome to A World Power!

Our forum acts as the hub of our community, and is where our Government, Citizens Assembly, and Regional Defence Force are coordinated. But it's not all serious business! The legendary Rucket Park is full of polls, spam games and nonsense chat, our Role Playing Pavilion is the place for all your roleplaying needs, and the A World Power Center is where we get to know each other.

haha... yeah... tax cuts for 95% of Americans... etc.

overall I didn't hear anything too revolutionary except trying to get out of this mess... but I don't see how government created jobs are supposed to be healthy and sustainable...

The amount of clapping at these things is sickening... but overall not too much bad or good in my opinion.

Goverment created jobs do provide a good shot in the arm for a few reasons, it raises moral because it takes people off wellfare and into jobs, most people on welfare would rather be working. If you disagree, its clear you have never been on it. my family has.

Next, it creates jobs that will generate more reveneu. Its not to be a permante solution but allow for more jobs to pull out of the recesion before jobs in the private sector pick up.

It either needs to be significant enough to increase economic activity accross the board or to be used at a time that it works with other factors to increase economic activity otherwise its just an expensive short term crowdpleaser that will be more damaging than useful in the long run.

I found it interesting that the Minority didn't boo or anything throughout the speech. There's a lot of partisan politics going on in the US in everywhere but the white house it seems.

I think there were somethings that he was pretty bold in comming out infavor of doing that his party isn't infavor of doing, like the cap or spending freeze he was talking about.

Did you notice, not even a blink came from the high command of the Navy Army or Air Force when Obama talked about allowing homosexual's to serve in the military.

Unfortunately all the TVs in the house were being hogged by my Tennis loving family (there's some kind of championship going on or something), so I didn't get to see it when it was broadcasted. I'll have to search it up later though.

Didn't watch it. I know what he said anyway. The usual BS, Keynesian reassurances about the economy, promises that the war-that-isn't-a-war will be over soon, and the taxes will hit someone else and the benefits will be for you. Just like every other SotU speech every year by every president.
"Mighty little force is needed to control a man whose mind has been hoodwinked; contrariwise, no amount of force can control a free man, a man whose mind is free. No, not the rack, not fission bombs, not anything — you can't conquer a free man; the most you can do is kill him." ~ Robert A. Heinlein

I voted for Obama in 2008. Which makes me mad now. He's a lying piece of crap like the rest of the leaders on both parties. I didn't watch the State of the Union so that way I didn't have to hear his bullshit.

Can't wait until he gives the bankers more money. What a tool.

I don't even intend to vote - it's all just a slightly more civilized way to sack your neighbor and get yourself beat up.

You all should just remember "It's the Economy". Whatever happens, Obama is a crap President but he was built up too much, if he is in Boom, re-election, if he is in Bust, Failure.
