Dear Residents of AWP, Most of you don’t know me, some of you may remember me. I promised that I would write a tell all statement about my history with AWP. I came in February of 2008, shortly after my arrival I joined the IPP political party. With regional inactivity at its lowest, I became an elected senator. I authored many pieces of legislation, and through some hard lobbying, I wrote the bills that were tweaked by other members of the senate that are responsible for how our senate operates, the judicial court and regional attorney position. There were other minor ones, but these ones stick out to me at the moment. In June of 2008 the elections for my position were taking way too long, and I went through a death in our family. After coming back after 2 weeks away, we pushed hard to get elections held for certain positions, and after those elections were held, our regional founder who is the head of government, killed the results of the election. I resigned my position in protest to this decision. We worked hard on a democracy that was more or less killed in that decision. Time came and went, and I went through a job change, and I more or less slipped away from AWP, and nation states all together. I decided to come back after about 6 months off (roughly February of 2009) because I saw a lot of emails that still came to my inbox from the forum, literally one click and I was back. There were many things going on, and I figured that the IPP would need another member in support. I went to bat for the IPP and ALL its members. Then I saw an opportunity to run for Delegate. It was a very close contest, one I won with 1 vote difference. I lasted about 60 days, and really, I only held the office for 30 or 40. During that time, I did my best the get something out of our senate. Get the vacancies filled, some order established, and create legislation that forced us to use our courts. I authored the WA vice delegate bill that passed. It was the most significant thing I did. Shortly after being elected, I left the IPP over a situation I went though with American Vampires. I saw little effort from the party to resolve this issue (though I didn’t know Ranholn was working in the background on things the whole time.), other than a directive from party leader Numero to resolve it. I finally had my fill of his attitude, and seeing his lack of support and the lack of support from the party to step in, I quit the party. I wanted to be independent, that’s when I became my most effective as WA Delegate. Then my job hit me hard, I realized, that I would have step back from this Nation states thing and focus on real life issues. I informed Neas we needed to hold elections, and since we were doing some anyways, we might as well do the delegate thing at the same time. He expressed his annoyance with my decision, and quite literally we dragged our feet in the whole process. Seeing little happening (not entirely his fault as the region was taking its time and I was way too impatient), on the last thing I got to vote on in the senate, I experienced a rather public dispute with Numero, who seemed to be having run ins with many people in my time there, Ranholn myself Liberty, and I didn’t think it was doing the region any good. Admittedly, I took this game way too seriously, and I got fed up with caring about this region in my personal life, so I left. I got really pissed off and left. ( I was having run ins with many people, I am a man of action, and realistically little action was happening, only talking about it) For this region to have any level of effectiveness, here is what I would say should happen going forward: Eliminate the appointed positions of government. They have no one to be accountable to, and rarely the most effective person gets the job, its just who is willing to work at it, and well liked around the region. Roll the RDF out of the government. The ministry of defense should still be in charge of the RDF, but the ministry of defense should have to win an election, and the people truly involved in running that ministry should be appointed and have no say in government. The head of the RDF should report to the Minister, but not vote on legislation. Affirm the Delegate position as the head of state, and shift the founder roll as to the watchful eye. Take away his voice in the government, he should be able to lobby, but not to vote and decide the direction of the government. I have no intention of coming back at this time or anytime in the near future to play any kind of role in this region. Maybe I’ll come back here and there when I feel like it, but I won’t express any regional political opinion other than what was in this. I only came back to write this because I said I would before I left in September. For those who did think I was an effective delegate, I thank you, for those who thought banning myself and leaving was an egregious let down, I agree with you, it wasn’t the right thing to do, but I had my fill of this. I think if our senate was a little more around in the time I was delegate, then we’d prolly have seen a different out come than what went down in the end. Turlmanistan, Former Delegate of AWP P.S. – I see you have elected Amex as delegate, and it’s the best thing this region could have done. |

yeah... they should banject themselves at the end... but after elections and then when they do... they gone a RDF mission or something and then come home ![]() You skipped the second part of tradition ![]() anyway... I've been super busy the last few days and will be even busier the next week and a half... I was generally upset with the manner in which you left and the reasons but I understand that that stuff happens... It would be really nice to see you put your nation in the WA and in general "casually" visit the forums and such often... we have as much need for regular ol citizens as politicians. So... as for some of your ideas. Technically ministers are nominated by me or the senate and then confirmed by the other (whichever one didn't bring their name up). The minister positions are the backbones of the region... unfortunately it has tended to be anyone who is willing to do the work... but it is vital that these positions are filled properly by people who can do the work and improve on what they're supposed to be doing... otherwise I basically have to do all the "work" aspects of their jobs to pick up slack. No matter what these positions need to be filled... but I would be perfectly fine if they had to simply report to the senate once a month or so to update them on their progress or lack there of. Unfortunately (not counting me) this leaves only 5 elected people in the senate... and if even one of them is gone for a few days this leaves only 4 people which is far too few for a lot of things. So that would have to be considered. In general I would be more than thrilled to get myself mostly out of the politics of the region if: 1. We get those minister roles filled by very competent people. Every tom dixk and harry should be able to handle MoE and MoI just requires a lot of recruiting and hopefully some organization and updating of that department. The MoD only has to understand who our allies are and who we defend and how to do that... not an overly complicated task. 2. Get an effective team of moderators who can (maybe?) interact with an established judiciary to keep things clean and orderly here. 3. Have some other elected figure-head of the region... who technically can order everyone about. To do this this person has to know and understand everything about the region... which isn't too hard if you apply yourself. Perhaps this person can spend their term training a successor or two of sorts... so that this position can be rotated. No matter what though I obviously would have to have oversight over everything. Since (I hope :P) this game comes second to RL we always have to take into account that people suddenly leave etc. and this makes filling positions particularly difficult. Basically....... we need more people. Ok... I should head off now, but I hope ya'll get the idea and we can get to work. Talk is good... but actions is where the action is . |

Yeah, I'll think about it, but I rather enjoy lurking... If I become political here again (which I won't), then we'll head down the same relentless, impatient, try to change everything and actually see it done, and piss everyone off in the meantime results I produced before. No doubt I got more done in the short time I was Delegate than most do in an entire term, but at the cost of what? Making this place a little unbearable? Been there done that... Just lurking from the bushes for me. :ph43r: Besides, if I join the WA and become a regular voting person here, that opens me up to charges in the court. Wouldn't want to put a former Delegate through than now would we?

As far as I am aware we sorted our differences out before you left so you have nothing that you need to apologise to me for (I generally take things said on the forums with a pinch of salt and generally look back on most things with amussement :P) Also nice to see you back even if just as a casual observer, always nice to see second opinions about things, I feel people don't make their feelings about senate issues known enough personally. Edit: I would like to nominate myself for the figurehead position, sounds like no work and all power which I like

yeah, I GENERALLY do that too. Generally... Most of my "spat" was political though, match political and passion together and you get what I did. I have learned time and time again though that not too many people here get my sense of humor though. |
