Dear Residents of AWP, Most of you don’t know me, some of you may remember me. I promised that I would write a tell all statement about my history with AWP. I came in February of 2008, shortly after my arrival I joined the IPP political party. With regional inactivity at its lowest, I became an elected senator. I authored many pieces of legislation, and through some hard lobbying, I wrote the bills that were tweaked by other members of the senate that are responsible for how our senate operates, the judicial court and regional attorney position. There were other minor ones, but these ones stick out to me at the moment. In June of 2008 the elections for my position were taking way too long, and I went through a death in our family. After coming back after 2 weeks away, we pushed hard to get elections held for certain positions, and after those elections were held, our regional founder who is the head of government, killed the results of the election. I resigned my position in protest to this decision. We worked hard on a democracy that was more or less killed in that decision. Time came and went, and I went through a job change, and I more or less slipped away from AWP, and nation states all together. I decided to come back after about 6 months off (roughly February of 2009) because I saw a lot of emails that still came to my inbox from the forum, literally one click and I was back. There were many things going on, and I figured that the IPP would need another member in support. I went to bat for the IPP and ALL its members. Then I saw an opportunity to run for Delegate. It was a very close contest, one I won with 1 vote difference. I lasted about 60 days, and really, I only held the office for 30 or 40. During that time, I did my best the get something out of our senate. Get the vacancies filled, some order established, and create legislation that forced us to use our courts. I authored the WA vice delegate bill that passed. It was the most significant thing I did. Shortly after being elected, I left the IPP over a situation I went though with American Vampires. I saw little effort from the party to resolve this issue (though I didn’t know Ranholn was working in the background on things the whole time.), other than a directive from party leader Numero to resolve it. I finally had my fill of his attitude, and seeing his lack of support and the lack of support from the party to step in, I quit the party. I wanted to be independent, that’s when I became my most effective as WA Delegate. Then my job hit me hard, I realized, that I would have step back from this Nation states thing and focus on real life issues. I informed Neas we needed to hold elections, and since we were doing some anyways, we might as well do the delegate thing at the same time. He expressed his annoyance with my decision, and quite literally we dragged our feet in the whole process. Seeing little happening (not entirely his fault as the region was taking its time and I was way too impatient), on the last thing I got to vote on in the senate, I experienced a rather public dispute with Numero, who seemed to be having run ins with many people in my time there, Ranholn myself Liberty, and I didn’t think it was doing the region any good. Admittedly, I took this game way too seriously, and I got fed up with caring about this region in my personal life, so I left. I got really pissed off and left. ( I was having run ins with many people, I am a man of action, and realistically little action was happening, only talking about it) For this region to have any level of effectiveness, here is what I would say should happen going forward: Eliminate the appointed positions of government. They have no one to be accountable to, and rarely the most effective person gets the job, its just who is willing to work at it, and well liked around the region. Roll the RDF out of the government. The ministry of defense should still be in charge of the RDF, but the ministry of defense should have to win an election, and the people truly involved in running that ministry should be appointed and have no say in government. The head of the RDF should report to the Minister, but not vote on legislation. Affirm the Delegate position as the head of state, and shift the founder roll as to the watchful eye. Take away his voice in the government, he should be able to lobby, but not to vote and decide the direction of the government. I have no intention of coming back at this time or anytime in the near future to play any kind of role in this region. Maybe I’ll come back here and there when I feel like it, but I won’t express any regional political opinion other than what was in this. I only came back to write this because I said I would before I left in September. For those who did think I was an effective delegate, I thank you, for those who thought banning myself and leaving was an egregious let down, I agree with you, it wasn’t the right thing to do, but I had my fill of this. I think if our senate was a little more around in the time I was delegate, then we’d prolly have seen a different out come than what went down in the end. Turlmanistan, Former Delegate of AWP P.S. – I see you have elected Amex as delegate, and it’s the best thing this region could have done. |

Agreed completely with the RDF thing. You have some good ideas in there. Also, good to hear from you again. I was wondering what happened to you. |

Yeah, even when I posted that, I saw a few messages in my inbox that I guess I ignored, so I went back and looked at the oath bill, I still like the idea, I see why other opposed it, but when so much built up, it was just like the first nothing thing that I saw that set me off. So where yes, you can say I left because of that, you really can't at the same time, because it was a number of things. Also another reason I pushed for the election aside from RL issues, I knew I'd never win a re-election, pissing off the IPP, and knowing the strong support Amex had. |

the problem with the non appointee thing is that we might not trust that person or they would not be experienced. Also the MOD needs senate access to inform the senate of military actions that impact the whole region. As to the founder thing it's a ood idea but wht does that tell neas? Good job you made this region but now you have no say in what really happens. So I disagree with you 100% |

Thanks for more or less shafting the blame for your little strop onto me despite the fact that I have only ever been the mediator performing my job as a global moderator. I put an end to your little squabble with AV, it was going nowhere but dividing the party, I drew a line under it. You may call that doing nothing, that was impartiality on my part, I was not going to let two factions tear apart our party, they could either work together or they could get up and leave. You showed your inability to work through problems and work together with people. You can call it being a man of action all you want but in that situation it was nothing but being stubborn and narrowminded. I stepped in to your arguments with other people when I was telegrammed by others saying that someone had to take on Ranholns mantle and be the tough moderator to enforce a level of decency on this forum. You littered this place with personal attacks and insults one evening, you knew that it was not abiding to our rules of decency, and you knew that I would have to take action. I'm disappointed you have seen your actions through rose-tinted glasses. I don't care about being a scapegoat, I stand by my responses in both situations. You showed no willingness to work with people who you had little spats with, you then made it personal, and sunk to childish name calling and swearing. I think I'm clear on who was right and who was wrong in my mind. People on this forum half your age have show levels of maturity above your own. I showed you the ropes in the RDF, I fought your case when you wanted to be Senator, I supported your legislation on every occassion and quite honestly I feel betrayed. The events leading up to you leaving this region shocked and upset me, I never thought someone I respected would act in such a way, someone I considered a friend. This is just another nail in that coffin and I'm afraid I was actually disappointed to see you posting here again. Perhaps you could have got a fond farewell if this topic had been somewhat respectful and apologetic, but theres an opportunity missed. Bye Turl |

Gov, we've had the Constitution debate a million times, and I doubt it'll gain any support. You'd be better off submitting your ideas in a legislative package (like Turl did with the court stuff) As for Mr T: http://z3.invisionfree.com/A_World_Power/i...?showtopic=4526 Needs to build some momentum! |

Turl has really done to much to be against NuCa, I deserved to have been kicked out and I am kinda glad Numero did, I wasn't as comited as I am now, and I needed that, could've gone about it in a better way. Ranny was picking fights with everyone at that point so... |

Ok, I really did just re-read my letter, I worded things wrong. Those aren't my recommendations going forward, that was a poor choice of words. It was what was on my mind at the time of my leaving, back in September. When I said that I wanted to play little to no role around here, I really did truely mean that. If people want to start on something that was in that letter, I take no credit for that (even though I did write it). I've been pondering this for a few days, Numero has a pretty valid point, I did go off on a lot of people, and in that letter I didn't really apologize for anything other than the way I left, so even though it was a missed opportunity I will say this: I am sorry for offending anyone if I did. I'm not sorry for what I really did politically, but I didn't want anyone to take anything personally (like I did). It was politically motivated, even jumping all over Numero in the oath suggestion thread, I played things quite politically dirty on that, but it was political, NOT personal, and I was trying to sway votes in the senate for that idea anyway I could. So I do appologize to anyone who I came swearing into a thread on, or belittled (that includes you Lib, I was rough on you too at times), where that's not what this game is about, and that got away from me, the fact that it is just a game. Basically: Numero Ranholn AV Neasmyrna Liberty Even Biain if you can believe it and those I've missed You guys can consider this my public apology to you all. Although I do think that A, I was right on the oath of office thing, haha jk jk, and B, all delegates who don't get re-elected should banject themselves from office out of tradition. I got the idea from Tothe, and that's why I did it, plus it would pretty much end me having to do anything as delegate knowing tothe had enough endo's too take things over, and it would have forced neasy to get moving on a few things, coupled by the fact that I just plain old needed some time away to focus on a few things. I said this to Numero too, my stress level in RL was ridiculously high when I did banject myself, so it really wasn't the oath debate that forced me to leave, it was just the flick that pushed me over the edge. |
