Founded in March of 2007, A World Power was once one of the largest regions in Nationstates, and is currently re-building to its former glory! We as a region hold no specific political ideology, but nations organise themselves into Great Houses of likeminded individuals. The leaders of the three largest Houses form a Triumvirate which is responsible for leading the region. We believe in open elections for all citizens of our region and operate a one of the major defender forces in the game, which protects regions across Nationstates from invasion.

Something that has been drawn to my attention

Ok, well I don't want to make a new thread just for this, but I don't know of anywhere else.

Ok, so....
In the public senate area, I was looking at a few polls, and I noticed that I could vote on them. So, I was thinking, couldn't, say, a non-Senate member, that is a candidate for a Senate position, vote for himself to balance the votes in his favor? I know it would be easy to find out if there are more votes than Senate seats, but this could easily be taken advantage of if one or more in the Senate didn't vote.

I doubt I'm the first one to figure this out, but it came to my attention, so.....
Is there a way to prevent this?

No he's not, the way we can tell is that there are so many Senate members so there should be X amount of votes.

Wait you're not accusing me are you? I could understand, because I'm tied, and even I thought I'd get destroyed, but I would never do that!

In the bill that made the public senate thing there was a article about this kinda thing and if you do vote/post or whatever in there as a non-senate member there are serious consequences

As Secretary I also seem to potentially be able to do this. The actual status of the polls though are disputable, in the private forum the default was for senate members to always post their vote, for clarity and public record. I'm not sure why polls have started popping up...

The Senate traditionally only post votes rather than using polls. Its much more efficient and you get a record of who voted which way. I think that tradition should be maintained.

yes, I remember from being in the senate, even on the rare cases when polls were used, people still stated that they voted and what they voted. I've been keeping an eye on that poll, 7 votes registered, only 3 senators' have declared that they have voted, plus Greek posted the poll so its pretty safe to assume he has voted... so where have the other 3 votes come from then?

That was the one election going on at the time, and even I was shocked at how close I got.

I would have to say from now on, don't do polls, only open ended voting, where you post your vote.

Each member of the Senate had three votes each in the Judge vote and it was conducted before the Senate was public so theres no foul play there.

The RA election needs another vote anyway as I'm turning down the position.
