![]() Editors: Seymour Liberty With special thanks to: Biain the first. Contents: page 1: Libertys Corner page 2: Cow Herders Win page 3: Interveiw with Liberty, by Liberty page 4: Biain, and the Economy page 5: Nean Quits page 6: A look in A World Power and comics. Liberty's Corner Well it has been a very busy week. We have had fun and excitement, the prospect of getting bored out of our wits with yet another newspaper has realy caused us to whack our heads on our keyboards. It's been 120 days since we have had a non rigged election, I have been bouncing up and down like a pogo stick interveiwing myself, and we have yet another empty seat in the senate. As I heard from the guy incharge of printing this newspaper said, "!@^&?!£ $%^&" When the entire printing went down for the third time. But as for me I have been writing these articles. So you want to read an illegal newspaper. Well you have come to the wrong place, I have permission from our *cough*Dictator*cough* ruler, so ha. Of course you won't be able to get such a fun and loving newspaper till we get our licence. So until then you can try to keep calm without your bias articles, some annoying dude rat on about something none of us care about, me interviewing myself andsome stupid and unfunny pics. Yes the news has never been better. ![]() Lord Tothe's Banners |

Cow Herder's Win So onto a more serious note... Tothe ended his term in fashionable style, unlike Seth deleting everyone, he decided to step down at 100 days. After a fine campaign by the two candidates for delegate it was a final victory for Cow Herders. The setting was clear however the final vote couldn’t have been predicted, “I feel Cow Herder’s was a good candidate and deserved a victory here” said Liberty the runner up in the delegate race, “I think cow herders will do a good job and good luck to him”. It was easily predicted that Cow Herders would win however what wasn’t predicted was how well Liberty did. Liberty was the under-dog right from the beginning and he was not thought of as a real contender, but after gaining 35% of the vote it was a shock to all. "I think this election went very well. We had our highest voter turnout in history and both ran a clean campaign. I usually like to see really young nations as our delegate to counter balance my ever increasing age but I think we will do very well with Cow herders as our delegate" Neas’s reaction to the election. Liberty is a very active newcomer to the game, and to the words of Cow Herders, “Liberty got me sweating a bit. This newspaper has questions to ask: will Cow Herders keep up the standard of Tothe? Will he do a better job than Liberty could have? And has his election been on one principal, age? One question we can answer though is that Cow Herders will have a nice time in office. ![]() Grafix Xtreme Page |

Interview With Liberty, By Liberty When I was asked to do an interview with myself I was a little sceptic. How was I meant to do my own interview? For FREE! This newspaper must be cheap, I didn't even get told what questions to say. So I went and got me two chairs, placed them in my study and jump from one to another like a man on a pogostick, this was until The window Cleaner cleaned the window and almost fell off his ladder laughing. So here you have it, an interview with Liberty, by Liberty. Q: Do you feel that Cow Herders gain the election on his age? A: I felt Cow Herders was a fine candidate. He did a clean campaign and came out the winner, he has executed a fine standing and he will do well for us. Q: Do you think you could do a better job than Cow Herders will? A: Cow Herders will stage a very good term and I am sure he will be a great choice as delegate. Q: What are you going to do now on NS: A: Run the newspaper, interview myself a few times more, no kidding it is fun. Q: Will you run again as delegate? A: Yes, in no uncetain terms will I run again as delegate. I will like to have the job, and possibly win a non-rigged election, :P. Q: What are you thoughts on our new Delegate? A: I think we are proud to host such a magnificent, loyal player in our region and on our forums. ![]() DCAPCOMR |

The Economy of AWP by Biain the First When liberty first asked me to write for his paper I was a bit stuck for an article idea. However, after witnessing a heated discussion in the regional reserve I decided I could write one about the AWP economy, its failings, its successes and where I see it going (finally my economics degree comes in useful ). The successes The AWP economy doesn’t really have much of these to be fair. I suppose the biggest success is that it is very easy to make money in AWP to afford some of the higher priced items such as your own forum. Also the business section of the forum is quite an achievement mainly because there are some functioning business there. I suppose the final success was the immigration stock and business stock market which when it was running/regularly updated was a good way to spend the funds that accumulate among the older members. The failings This is slightly easier section to write being that the economy has a number of failings, the largest being the lack of day to day items to spend your money on. This means that older members accumulate large reserves of cash (even I am relatively rich and I have not entered the spam forum in months). This of course causes inflation, as new goods have to be created at a higher price to reflect their fair value. Also the costs of services have to keep rising to prevent people using services such as subforums, originally designed as a way to create things such as independent newspapers and separate role-play forums, into an item everyone has and so does not appreciate (though admittedly this has not happened yet thanks to there relatively high initial price). Where I see it going Ideally I would like to see AWP move to a largely wages based economy as this would encourage activity and people to get more involved in general AWP life. However, first we need a source of revenue for the government as most positions are currently government jobs (e.g. RDF, recruiter ect.). One way to do this is as suggested by Seymour (at least he is the most recent) is via taxes on the amount you receive when you post in certain areas (we could of course argue go for a general tax instead). While this is an approach which would quickly garner funds for the government it may discourage new membership from the forum as many services will seem unaffordable if they lose the a large proportion of the easiest form of gaining income. Instead I would argue that the it is important the government instead becomes self funding by offering services for the general membership to buy, as it does already with subforums, no doubt you will see some more initiatives appearing with this idea in mind soon. The problem with this however, is that it could be self defeating as the government requires money to pay people, so that they can buy services off the government, so that the government has money to pay people. With a small amount of luck and by making the services attractive enough I believe this will not be the case as we already have a large number of rich older members who can provide the necessary start up capital to get the system running and so prevent the government entering a deadlock cycle of poverty. ![]() POP |

Nean Quits At 9 a.m, PCT, Nean, our immigration minister, left the AWP blocks and told the world he quit. This news meant that, with the delegate elections closing, there are still three spaces in the senate available. "I'm afraid I'm suffering of a complete and total loss of interest in NationStates." Were the words he let the world here to announce the sad and tragic news. However some optimists have said that he will not be gone for long. But can this be a curse on the parties. Nean a long standing member of the Independant Peoples Party has left, also DCAPCOMR's GreekAmerican left prior to the Delegate Election vote. Could this be an end to our long standing partier, only time will tell. ![]() IPP |

Spotlight on:![]() The People's Government of The Neo Order "To let live an enemy is to let loose the tiger. " Category: Liberal Democratic Socialists Civil Rights:Excellent Very good Economy:Imploded Political Freedoms:Excellent The People's Government of The Neo Order is a massive, environmentally stunning nation, notable for its punitive income tax rates. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 1.057 billion love a good election, and the government gives them plenty of them. Universities tend to be full of students debating the merits of various civil and political rights, while businesses are tightly regulated and the wealthy viewed with suspicion. It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, socially-minded government stops and the rest of society begins, but it concentrates mainly on Defence, although Education and Law & Order are secondary priorities. The average income tax rate is 100%. A robust private sector is dominated by the Information Technology industry. People regularly disappear off the streets and all evidence of them is destroyed, the nation's infamous boot camp is more brutal than most battlefields, the arms industry is strictly regulated, and the government has legalised small-scale capitalism. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. The Neo Order's national animal is the peregrine falcon, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the neo. The Neo Order is ranked 72nd in the region and 68,816th in the world for Largest Automobile Manufacturing Sector. Funnies Jokes: A nun in the convent walked into the bathroom where mother superior was taking a shower. "There is a blind man to see you," she says. "Well, if he is a blind man, than it does not matter if I'm in the shower. Send him in." The blind man walks into the bathroom, and mother superior starts to tell him how much she appreciates him working at the convent for them. She goes on and on and 10 minutes later the man interrupts: "That's nice and all, ma'am, but you can put your clothes on now. Where do you want me to put these blinds? ![]() you either love 'em or hate them. ![]() Population Tracker: 240 nations[/b][/u][/SIZE] NS members have come back. |
