Founded in March of 2007, A World Power was once one of the largest regions in Nationstates, and is currently re-building to its former glory! We as a region hold no specific political ideology, but nations organise themselves into Great Houses of likeminded individuals. The leaders of the three largest Houses form a Triumvirate which is responsible for leading the region. We believe in open elections for all citizens of our region and operate a one of the major defender forces in the game, which protects regions across Nationstates from invasion.

So...

We can have a discussion along with the poll...

To get things started I'll just say how I thought it was hilarious how during the primaries they would always say: "Hillary Rodham Clinton" and then just "Barack Obama"

What happened to his middle name

Mind if I edit this poll? After all, you're ignoring third-party candidates, and the D and R conventions haven't even taken place yet. I just want to add and "Aw, crap! None of the above!" option.

As I've said on the XKI and NSG forums, I'll vote for Chuck Baldwin of the Constitution party. I'm utterly fed up with the garbage from the Democrat and Republican parties. Neither major party candidate has the guts to make the unpopular decisions that will make REAL change for the better in this country. The federal reserve cannot manupulate the economy into stability, much less real growth. Federal expansion will continue ever further beyond its constitutional limitations under either McCain or Obama, and it's only a question of which direction this expansion will go. The two-party system is giving us a choice between an old white rapist and a young black rapist. Under these circumstances, I don't really want to choose either one, thank you very much.

I have to admit, I have no praise for the two party media controlled system in the US which is a blemish on what is otherwise a very admirable and respectable political set up.

However, between the two I much prefer Obama's style and I think overall he would be the most positive of the two. Nevertheless I agree with Tothe's statements that neither have the guts to make the big decisions that are needed to reset the balance the way it should be and to make the vital decisions that are going to be needed economically for the US over the next four years.

I quote my friend

"The country has been swept off it's feet by Obama's charisma that as a person in love does sometimes we haven't looked to see what he is really about. He is a junior senator from Illinois who can't speak in the senate unless he is asked to. He sits in the way back doing nothing."

i think she is right...when he first spoke in 04 at the convention he was great (as i hear...i didnt hear it) but form then on we have been prostrate at his feet

I have a friend in Columbia who says that as soon as Obama is elected (if he is) there will be war between Columbia and Venezuela because Obama is friends with Chavez and doesn't care about South America.

although i dont think McCain is the answer

they all SUCK

if i could vote i would write in myself

yeah... I heard that... haha

both of them are dreadful...

obama is plain right out psycho...

Mccain is... nothing basically

Both have horrible economic policies that are sickening to any un-biased economist who even glances at them...

I was watching the DNC and was laughing... Jimmy Carter... a president who held one term in office and was enormously disliked was made a hero...

and they said the reason he wasn't considered so successful was he had a DEMOCRAT congress who didn't totally agree with him... psh

George Bush isn't a genius... but I laughed in class today when people say he had a part in this economic down turn...

the other good line was that the war in Iraq was the other cause to our economic problems...

When I take over the US it will be mandatory for everyone to take a medium level economics class... minimum...

right now I'd choose the lesser evil of McCain... Obama is a socialist... and that's not what the US should be...

If you want to study economics, I recommend the Austrian school. Murray Rothbard's lectures are very interesting.

It will be interesting how accurate this poll turns out to be...

Mccain comes in with a huge disadvantage... people hate Bush... Bush is a republican... Mccain is a republican... Bush=McCain...

Bush caused bad economy... and we know Bush=McCain... so McCain=bad economy

he's old... and dull... Obama is young... new and exciting...

he's been playing catchup from the start and is now 46% for Obama and 43% for Mccain last I saw... plus or minus 3%

So it's certainly not over...

They put out some predictions for how many electoral college votes each will be getting approx. if the race ended today excluding states that were too close to call... and Obama had 207ish and McCain 170 something

But of course 55 of Obama's 207 are all from California :P

Ditch the major parties! At the national level, all they really care about is gaining office, staying in office, or moving to a higher office. There's no statesmanship except for a handful of congressmen who are disregarded as fringe lunatics. I won't vote in this poll unless Neas adds the "Aw, crap! None of the above!" option.

I was hoping to see Kucinich vs. Paul this fall, but no such luck. I could have accepted either one of them as President, even with my disagreements with a few positions they take bacuse both of them truly respect the Constitution and individual liberties.

It seems a lot of people feel this way... and yet they all end up voting for one of the two main party candidates anyway...

I didn't put 3rd party people because I want to see who people think is the lesser of the two evils..

I see. I just can't decide whether it hurts more to have the left ball crushed in a vise ir the right ball smashed with a hammer. The lesser of two evils can still be quite evil.

Neither are amazingly good candidates but I'd have to go with Obama.....
And all I had,
Is the memory of what was;
So let's pretend,
It never mattered to us.

Not any more!

Obama (on some report I saw)

had 49%
McCain: 43%

However... the margin of error is 3%

so they could technically be tied...

and about 8% are undecided... of course some of these will vote 3rd party... but although everything has to be perfect for McCain to even have a chance... it still is not impossible...

Stop watching the mass media if you want to know what americans think. He DID attend a moslem school, but that doesn't mean he's a moslem now. His mother was of european descent, and his father was african. He isn't all black, so why all the "omg we got a black man running for teh prez" hysteria? it's all hype on both sides. neither offers any substance.
