Information:

Founded in March of 2007, A World Power was once one of the largest regions in Nationstates, and is currently re-building to its former glory! We as a region hold no specific political ideology, but nations organise themselves into Great Houses of likeminded individuals. The leaders of the three largest Houses form a Triumvirate which is responsible for leading the region. We believe in open elections for all citizens of our region and operate a one of the major defender forces in the game, which protects regions across Nationstates from invasion.

Thursday-A light snow will fall across the land covering forming slicks of ice so be cautious when outside. High of 35 low of 32.

Friday-The snow will start to fall heavier towards the afternoon and start to get thicker, ice is still a big concern. High of 32 low of 39.

Saturday-The snow fall will stay the same though what is already on the ground will be freezing over making it a crazy fun time to bust out a sled but people in cars should be wary. High of 29 low of 27.

Sunday-The snow will stop, the clouds will clear, and Mr. Sun will shine his face again helping to get these icy conditions under control. High of 36 low of 31.

Monday-The sun will yet a gain be shining in full force helping to curb the terrible ice slicks that are throughout the area especially on the roads. Some clouds will be moving in the area come nightfall. High of 34 low of 28.

Tuesday-More clouds will be covering the sky blocking a lot of the sun's beams, however, ther will not be any snowfall and the decent temperatures should prevent a major more ice from forming. High of 35 low of 31.

Wednesday-The snow will start to fall again, however, ice slicks shouldn't be as prevalent this time though we still advise caution. High of 34 low of 29.

The southern senate race, which had gone into "overtime", is now over and Ranholn remains the senator for the south. congratulations Ranholn.

Suggestions have been asked for in regards to ideas to really shake up the region and get people more involved. If you have any suggestions then check out the Senate Offices thread.

The RDF is always looking for dedicated members to join it's prestigious ranks. If your interested than contact Minister of Defence Numero Capitan..

The Immigration Department could sure use a few more hands to help with recruiting. If this sounds like it might interest you then be sure to contact either Neas or Numero for more details.

UN Access to Literacy Project
A resolution to promote funding and the development of education and the arts.

Category: Education and Creativity
Area of Effect: Educational
Proposed by: Quintessence of Dust

Description: The United Nations,

Applauding its previous Resolution #79, "Reformed Literacy Initiative", for making literacy "the critical priority" for national educational systems,

Recognising that access to a wide range of suitable reading materials is central to the realization of that goal,

Considering that the relative cost of redistributing surplus reading materials compares favourably in economic and environmental terms with that of mass reprinting,

Pleased that the existence of the UNEAF precludes the necessity of creating additional bureaucracy for the administration of the Project:

1. Inaugurates the "UN Access to Literacy Project", to be run as a voluntary and not-for-profit initiative to include all member nations;

2. Invites all nations to collect surplus reading materials and make them available to the Project for redistribution to those in need;

3. Designates "surplus reading materials" as including donated, unwanted, used, second hand or remaindered books, magazines, journals and other written sources, including print rejects that are still usable but that cannot be sold;

4. Stipulates that materials may be used but must be of a reasonable quality, or capable of being returned to a reasonable quality at minimal cost, particularly with regard to their utility in literacy projects;

5. Grants nations reasonable discretion in organizing collection of the materials, including in the degree of centralisation: the collections could, for example, be organized within educational institutions, as part of waste collection, or through charity events;

6. Permits agencies and authorities involved in literacy programmes to petition the UNEAF for assistance in supplying a range of reading materials;

7. Authorises the UNEAF to:
- take inventory of collected materials;
- allocate the materials, and otherwise acquired through additional UNEAF initiatives, to petitioners;
- make contributors aware of particularly dire needs;
- grant small rewards to institutions that prove particularly responsive and helpful in collecting surplus reading materials;
- advise nations on strategies to improve their collections;

8. Declares that the UNEAF may make judgments on the reading materials, in consultation with petitioners for assistance, based on how appropriate and relevant they will prove, but that it will refrain from indulging in or abetting political censorship.
