Teh pancake: Theres a loop hole in IPB where you can get it for free by just using the trial version. it never ever expires. ;) The problem with using a forum where i have the abilities to edit board files is that I would need a host site to run it from. You don't know how hard it is to find a good host that will give ftp access, a mysql database, supports php, all for free. I have found a few, but here are the problems: thefreeserver.com: the servers suck. they go down way too much to have a good forum going. 3x.ro: they will delete accounts randomly, regardless of if you are using it or not. They also don't support frames. vzz.net: i haven't tried this place out, but I've already seen they place popups on your site. I do NOT want a forum with pop ups. lycos.co.uk: good to use if I'm testing something for the forum, but WAY TOO many adds. I tried using them once for a real forum and it flopped harder than a pair of 2's against a royal flush.

Posts: 414 Group: Global Moderator Member #15 Joined: December 26, 2003	sometimes its not the cost that blocks you; you need a credit card to buy a lot of things on line. if it wasn't for paypal, I wouldn't even have a forum because to pay for host ultra they wanted your number or pay by paypal. some parents just don' want their number online period.

Its the new IPB 2.0 which they give you on a 'trial" basis but its still free. http://forumflash.com gives you free IPB 2.0 but its PDR 3 :x so its got bugs and no access to edit the files themselves. they offer ftp but its not what you would think it is, it lets you into the image folders and skin folders but thats it.
