Juventus have won their 28th official Serie A Championship with one game to spare after around 6 years of heartbreak. They defeated Cagliari 2-0 and title rival AC Milan was defeated by city rival Inter Milan 4-2 to put Juventus 4 points ahead and guarantees them the Championship.

Juventus went up early after striker Mirko Vucinic met a great cross, which was deemed not offside by officials, and slotted the ball easily past the Cagliari goalkeeper.

Juventus then scored their second late into the second half, after Martin Caceres crossed the ball in, and Cagliari defender Michele Canini accidentally kicked the ball over the head of his keeper and into the back of the net.

AC Milan came back from an early goal by Inter striker Diego Milito, with two goals in the space of two minutes by former Inter striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but could not contain Diego Milito who equalised soon after and then scored his third goal for the hattrick with 10 minutes to go, giving Inter a 3-2 lead.

Efforts to score by AC Milan were in vain, as Inter midfielder Maicon scored with 3 minutes to go to ensure the win and break the hearts of players and fans alike who had hoped for a dream comeback against Juventus who were only one point ahead of them.

Juventus have shown that they are back to their best since losing most of their players as a result of the 2005-2006 Match Fixing Scandal, which saw Juventus stripped of two titles and relegated to the Serie B for 2 years as punishment.

The competition will now become most important for Udinese, Lazio, Napoli and Inter Milan, who all have a chance to reach Europe, either through the Europa League or into the UEFA Champions Qualification.

Here is the top 10 (out of 20) table as of 13/5/12

1. Juventus: 22 wins - 15 draws - 0 losses - 81 points
2. AC Milan: 23 wins - 8 draws - 6 losses - 77 points
