Will MW3 Wii use IW Engine 4.0?

Black Ops Wii used an enhanced version of IW 3.0

All Call of Duty games since call of Duty 2 on PC has used a version of the Infinity Ward engine (IW). All of the major Wii Call of Duty games has used the IW 3.0 engine as has been the case with the HD versions except for Modern Warfare 2, which used IW 4.0.

As you know Modern Warfare 2 did not come out to Wii so the Wii has never used the IW 4.0 engine.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 on PS3/360 uses the MW3 engine which is really an upgraded version of IW 4.0.

So the question remains will Modern Warfare 3 Wii use the MW3 (IW 4.0) engine or go back to IW 3.0?

If the Wii version does use the latter engine, we could see some nice improvements in the area of graphics and stability.

Fingers crossed guys, but remember this is just wishful thinking at the moment.

Even if we did go up to IW 4, the graphics wouldn't be that much better, all I can guess is that it would possibly allow for greater use of ram, allowing for greater kill streaks. IW3 was about as far as the wii could go, and I could see that in obvious slowdown at some points on the Wii. Running a new engine would feel cool though.

Well version 4.0 of the engine has been further optimised over version 3.0 so there are improvements but it remains to be seen if Wii could even handle it.

Doubt it. I think one of the reasons the wii gets the game late would be because it couldn't handle the 4.0 engine so it had to be built separate from the other versions. With more features in MW3 I just don't think it could handle it now using the 4.0 engine if it couldn't do so before with MW2.

Well that may be true but one of the rumours I'm hearing is that the Wii version is delayed because they are having difficulties getting IW 4.0 to play nice on the system.

Still no one outside Treyarch and Activision would know the answer to this!

Nah the reason te game is late is probably due to shipping. I'm pretty sure the game is still on the way on time in US

I have heard a few different rumors as well, 1 Wii online connect-ability issues.
2 was something about a production delay somewhere.

But at least it's coming, that much we do know. :)

Yeah news has leaked that Europe will see a delay but US Wii owners are still expected to see it the same day as PS3/360!

It's not a huge difference because the actual IW 4.0 is an upgrade over IW 3.0 anyway. Also it's worth noting that the actual IW 3.0 engine keeps getting upgraded with an enhanced version already used for Goldeneye.

However most would agree that Modern Warfare 2 had better graphics than Black Ops despite being released earlier. So from a visual perspective especially in relation the streaming of textures, IW 4.0 is superior to 3.0.

Modern Warfare 3 Wii won't use IW 4.0... that is dead certain.

I mean, making IW 4.0 run on the Wii would probably destroy every single Wii out there... look what Black Ops Wii did!

I think they will use an enhanced version of the Black Ops Wii engine (IW 3.5? ;P)

I still firmly believe that they need to make the Wii version on two separate discs... I mean, they could put so much more into the game if they had one single player disc and one multiplayer disc!

Oh and EB Games has changed the release date on their website again, and now it seems it will be out on the 23/11/2011 :S

Haha scope we already know it's 23rd. You really haven't been here :P

Also, I didn't find black ops to run that bad. My wii (yeah very funny...) never makes a noise (again just hilarious).

We will just see though. Mw2 did look very nice though, compared to black ops.

While I am not saying that MW3 Wii will use IW 4.0 I certainly think it's possible. I mean why not? Every other time the Wii version has received the exact same engine as the HD consoles and people here seem to talk like they know what the specifications of IW 4.0 are. It may be easier to run on Wii than 3.0 for all we know!

We are not talking about the Frostbite 2 engine here.
