Well I just thought that it would be a cool thread to have and that we would get a lot of discussion going on here, so post anything you want about the Guiness Book of World Records here. I'll start - I have no idea if he still hold these records but I know the guy who holds (or held) the record for both catching a golf ball hit the farthest and hitting a golf ball the farthest with one hand. I had a book that was a year old and I beat the record for the most eggs held in one hand, in the book I had the record was either 12 or 13 and I managed 14, so I went onto the site and sent the guys a message and email, but I got a reply telling me that the record had changed to 19. I was so devastated. So again, anything. The book, the T.V show, attempts, fails, people you know. Anything. |

Yeah ama, there are some freaky records in there! I think there was one about the longest time continuously hitting a table tennis ball up on the bat, and it was like 30 hours or something. Long story short, I had a go at it, actually got 12 hours straight (that's dedication folks) and then kinda had to go to the toilet..and yeah I didn't end up getting that record

my uncle claims that he attempted and successfully received a record for the longest time jumping on a trampoline (although he hasn't proved it yet). Last year I contacted Guiness World Records to attempt the longest distance balancing on a large gymnastics ball. Guiness liked the idea and request that I organise a place for the attempt and get some sort of media attention but I never got round to it and just didn't bother in the end |

I quite like the worlds largest rubber band ball. As a kid I had one that eventually got to the size of a bowling ball, after that I stopped making it, I forgot about it and it fell apart. P.S has anyone noticed that some of the things in the Guiness Book of World Records are also in Ripleys Believe it or not, but the records have been beaten in the I quite like the worlds largest rubber band ball. Just seems funny to me. I can't get over the woman with the smallest waist. |

Man that stood up for the longest time. 15 years. Gave himself the option of leaning on a plank to sleep. Longest pole sit. I think it was like 39 years by a man that lived in the 70's ad or something. Now a saint. |

I participated in the Brisbane Zombie Walk. I'm not sure if it was a guiness world record attempt but we smashed the previous record by a good 10,000 - 15,000 people. A great day of scaring tourists, and running around in a jedi robe, hobbling like Yoda, armed with a bloody cricket bat. What can I say, that was one fun record to beat! cheers dad2 Edited by [ANWA]dad2, Oct 31 2011, 11:51 PM.

The woman with the longest nails has to pinch anything to lift it and when she paints then she has to soak them in hot water to unroll them and then it takes 3 days to finish. |

I loved reading the book from cover to cover and laughing at some of them. I think I read somewhere (key word being think) that the most read book in history after the Bible was the Guinness World Records!

I haven't actually read a Guinness Book of Records in years. Ironically I have the Guinness Book of Video game records from 2009. |
