IGN give Battlefield 3 for PC a review of 9.0

IGN.com have reviewed Battlefield 3 for PC and have scored it a 9.0 out of 10.

While they have nothing but good things to say about the multiplayer modes the single player campaign did cop some flak.

Here athe IGN's closing comments:

Quote:

When you shut down Battlefield 3 and let the Frostbite 2-powered dust settle, it certainly has some problems. But DICE’s adoration of and expertise with the online experience permeates every aspect of its multiplayer. Regardless of the narrative missteps or the occasional glitches, Battlefield 3 offers an unforgettable, world-class multiplayer suite that's sure to excite shooter fans, whether they fired their first bullet in Battlefield 1942 or have just now heeded Battlefield's call of duty.

Well to be honest, I watched and read the review, and even though people say that IGN are being biased to CoD, the review actually makes sense.

I mean, they didn't say anything particularly bad about the game, just that the campaign is not very strong as is very cliche... Bad Company's campaign was horrible (sorry it's true) and no one cares!

A 9 is a fantastic result for EA, and considering the Metacritic score 93/100, it is pretty clear that IGN were nearly dead on the money.

And why does everyone care so much about what critics have to say? I mean, technically it is about how YOU like it and not anyone else... Take Homefront for example... that game got some pretty average reviews, but a lot of people really enjoy it!

Pretty nice review, I am interested in the BF single player much more than Cod as it could give some info to the multiplayer side, so the single player copping flak puts me off a little bit. I'm still unsure whether I will buy this game so every juicy piece of info counts.

single player story in any fps is using a cliche filled clusterfuck, but at least bad company's main characters were likeable

Seriously though when was the last time a COD had a great single player? The last time I really enjoyed COD single player was back in COD5! Multiplayer is where it's at for both BF and COD!

MW2 had an alright campaign, but that cliffhanger pissed me off a bit xD

And, to be honest, I really enjoyed the Black Ops campaign! I mean, it may not have been as action-packed as CoD4, MW2 and Bad Company 2, but I loved the fact that it was all flashbacks and it playing the first mission alone made me want to finish it :o

But yes I agree the Multiplayer is the best option, but people really do like finishing campaigns, especially if they don't have internet or any Live.

The review makes sense for the score they gave it. However, they need to introduce a Multiplayer score (sorry if I missed it). The campaign sounds incredibly cliche though.

Well considering BF is focused on multiplayer gameplay and IGN is generally in favor of COD I think this is a good result. Think this will be rated very highly.
