How to Be A Video Game Tester

I will just post the steps but here is the link with a little more info - http://www.ehow.com/how_6711587_video-game-testing-job.html?utm_source=outbrain&utm_medium=test3

Difficulty: Easy

1
Enroll in open betas. If you are looking to get into the gaming industry as a tester, you will need to first have some kind of resume put together. The best way to bolster your tester resume is to enroll in open betas. Massively multiplayer online role-playing games, or MMORPGs, tend to have several betas throughout the development cycle of the game.

2
Compile your resume. Putting together a resume for a game tester position is no different than any other resume. List the games you have tested, the companies that developed them and your responsibilities while testing these games.

3
Search for companies that are hiring. Each game developer has a jobs listing page on its website that is updated fairly regularly. Game tester positions are almost always in demand, so finding companies that are hiring should not be a problem.

4
Apply for the game tester position. Send in your resume, and, should you get a call back from the developer in question, go through the interview process. Keep in mind that in addition to a phone interview, some developers will want to bring you in for an on-site evaluation to see how well you perform in a workplace environment. If they like you, you may be offered the job.

Not for me, most games that I would have to test would just annoy me haha but maybe some others would be interested in this. I'm not sure how old you would have to be.

Anyone interested?

I would hate this job. I have done it before in small scale. I would rather play the game after and not while it is full of bugs.

Still it would be good to find a bug and then have something done about it in a matter of days at my finding of said bug then having to wait for weeks/months to see any response to my bitching.

Would be decent depending on the pay. Don't think you would get too many chances in Australia though.

I would like to ty it, but not make a career out of it. It would be interesting if you could choose half decent games, but getting games like The Sims to debug would be god awful.

Well I don't think it would matte too much on where you are would it? You probably wouldn't even need to be able to meet the employer would you?

That is an interesting sounding type of Job but I think I would go mad doing that.
Sure I would probably go great playing all sorts of games all day....
Except I use gaming as a way to relax & have fun at the end of the day,
turning it into a testing job would kill that for me.

Yeah it would probably put me off gaming. I can't stand to play even bops for more than an hour and a half straight. Imagine playing all day every day. The only types of games I can play for ages is offline games where you just want to keep going until you finish.

It would be a good job if you could get it casual, and just test a couple of games a week or something for a little extra money and fun :P

I would game test Uncharterd 3 for free. As long as I get the whole level to test :P. But more often than not your just repeating 20 seconds of a game over and over to see any peculiarities.
UNCHARTED 3, MODERN WARFARE 3, BATTLEFIELD 3 - END OF GAMING 3 ERA

Well that sight said that the difficulty is easy, I guess it may just be effort to keep getting work or to actually find glitches and stuff?

Yeah, wii would be hard though because most glitches wouldn't be able to be updated anyway. There was only a couple of cod updates and both were on Bops weren't they?

Wii glitches used to be so easy haha. I wonder how some of them were even doable. Especially on cod4

Probably for true video game lovers, I hate certain types of games therefore it wouldn't suite me. Although I wouldn't mind trying it for a little while

In all honesty Black Ops PS3 still has a few Glitches as far as Zombies goes,

The three that I know that still work are on:

Five
Call of the Dead
Shangri La

Shangri La I'm not to sure about but Gal said it works, Call of the Dead everyone knows that one.

I donno, I wouldn't mind this job, you'd have to play some bad games aswel, I wouldn't mind being like a BF3 Alpha Tester and stuff like that but you know you've gotta work your way up the ranks.

I really don't think testing is my thing. I've always wanted to mess around and make new things for the game like new maps and such. I'd prefer making the game rather than testing it
