In news that is going to infuriate many early adopters of the 3DS, Nintendo have confirmed that an add-on which has been leaked in Japan is real. The attachment houses a 2nd analog stick and L2 & R2 buttons and apparently replaces the original R button too. This can only mean a redesigned 3DS incorporating these features is near. Here is a leaked picture of the attachment. As can be seen, this further strengthens the heavy rumours that a version of Monster Hunter Tri G is being prepared to be announced by Capcom for the 3DS. ![]() Edited by Luminal, Sep 7 2011, 10:47 PM.

To be honest, I have no idea what it will actually accomplish or why people will want it. Apparently it will take the battery life down to 2 hours or something as well. |

They are just trying everything to boost the sales, since they are not really making a big profit from the thing they are trying to do everything they can to improve that |

They are only bringing this out so current 3DS owners can play the stuff the redesigned 3DS will be able to play. This will also make multi-platform ports much easier. |

I would be annoyed if i had just bought a 3ds, feels like I am missing something out. If it reduces the battery life to 2 hours though I would rather not have it, that's terrible. It won't be long before a 3DS XL comes out haha, speaking of which, did anyone actually buy or know someone who bought a DS XL |

I would buy a 3DS if the terms where something I could agree to. This tho looks ugly but good for someone like me. I have large hands that have issues holding the tiny gameboy's and then DS gameboys. This would help me a fair bit. |

I read that it might also act as a bigger battery aswell. But serious, it looks 100% terrible, I could design something better looking than that. If by the end of this year, they haven't announced a GOOD pokemon game for the 3DS, i'm trading it in for a Vita. |

Don't be expecting a new Pokemon any time soon. The next 3DS Pokemon will likely be an updated port of the latest DS title. While these decisions aren't great news for early adopters, the steps Nintendo are taking are solid. A 2nd analog stick and L1 & R2 buttons should have been there to begin with. However anyone serious of buying a 3DS should almost certainly wait for the next redesign. |

Yes I head on good game that there is talk of a new model of the 3DS that will have two sticks and less of a push on the 3D side. Might even have a new name. Lets face it tho. The new PSP is going to outsell the 3DS. I mean that thing is almost as if not more powerful than the PS3. Make it have a good bat life and don't do me over on the T&C and I will get it. |

LOL Yeah everyone said that about the original PSP too. It had more power than the DS, was much prettier and even had it's own movie library but failed to sell well outside Japan. A powerful handheld is all you need to succeed then? I thought price would be a more important factor! Edited by Luminal, Sep 8 2011, 10:34 AM.

The 3DS sold less in its first week than the PSP did in the same week. Tell me what that says? Then this latest price drop, free games. The PSP is selling better. Tell me how the Vita can go wrong. |

It's not that the Vita will go wrong. It has a good chance but I think portables in general will sell less this generation. Also the 3DS has sold well since the price drop and really things won't pick up until Mario Kart 7 and the new Mario game. This will be the time where the price difference between the two could really seem significant. Also as far as games go, what PSV titles are likely to outsell Mario Kart 7 this generation? Everyone goes on about power, but it has never been a decisive factor in any console or handheld war in the past. Why do you think this time it will be different? |

I aint seen the line up yet but I am willing to be that a large amount of developers will pick up on the PSV due to one main thing. It gives them the power to take games they have already made for Xbox and PS3 and just port them over. Mostly I see this being its boon. You can take a game that runs on the PS and port it. That is if its power lives up to the hype. If not shame on Sony. Also the stand alone Uncharted title. Hell yes I want to play that. |

Trust me Uncharted is the reason why I will probably pick up a Vita too. As for ports from PS3/360..well they have never ever shown to sell as well as original titles made specvifically for a handheld. Nintendo's handheld dominance is mainly down to Pokemon so If the Vita becomes number 1 this gen, it will likely be due to a unique PSV game that has probably not been announced yet. |

Personally as a nonhandheld console owner, as great as ports of console game is, I would be less inclined to play a port of somethinbg I can play on a bigger screen better controls etc. Games made for handhelds should be the big factor like that exclusive uncharted game or some creative use of the handheld like they had on the ds. Games, blowing on the screens, using the stylus etc really let me have a. New fun experience. Sorry about mistakes. Typing on the phone haha |
