Unreal Engine 3DS running?

The makers of the Unreal Engine, EPIC Games said they won't be making 3DS games because the 3DS wasn't powerful enough to run it! However, Ubi-Soft have already done what Epic couldn't!

In an interview with Gamespot UK, Ubisoft's Fabrice Cuny when asked whether or not the 3DS has the same processing power as the Wii, had this to say.

Cuny

The 3DS is powerful and we are able to run the Unreal engine on this console, which is pretty impressive for a handheld machine, and the 3D doesn’t affect the performance (thanks to my amazing programmers). The architecture is different compared to a Wii or some other platforms that we had to work with here at Ubisoft Montreal.

Good news for 3DS fans as the Unreal Engine is very popular and used my many 3rd party publishers today.

Fail to EPIC games. It just shows Ubisoft has more investment plans for 3DS.

A big thumbs up for 3DS for sure!

Wow, thats mad. EPIC Games are going to have to make the Unreal Engine work if Ubisoft can.

No offence to Epic Games but regardless of excuses they come up with for not to working on Nintendo hardware, I really feel they simply have no interest in Nintendo. Never had and maybe never will!

However Nintendo fans should not and more importantly will not have to live without games using the Unreal Engine!

Finally I thank you Ubi-Soft for always having a great presence on Nintendo systems and exploring the 3DS' possibilities, but couldn't you guys have come up with a better launch line-up?

I personally haven't ever been a huge Ubisoft fan. The time it takes to get past all of their opening credits bugs me a lot and most of their games seem to be just low budget, poor quality game. Hopefully the Unreal Engine can change this!

Well it's a start. I presume they are somewhat testing the waters, but with its overwhelming support for 3DS by consumers, I am sure they will jump in now.

I love Epic for Gears of War but I hate how they think that making for Nintendo systems isn't important! At least they share their engine!

Ubi Soft have made great games but they rest on their laurels and milk franchises for too long without much innovation. Splinter Cell, Assassins Creed, Prince of Persia and even Rayman need new injections and not the same tired old stuff from years ago hanging around like a bad smell.

I can't wait when they actually push the 3DS hardware or even bring out a game that uses the Unreal Engine.
