The financially troubled North Queensland Fury has finally been axed by the FFA after their bid to keep them in the tournament was denied, and they couldn't pay to stay in. This means that they will not be competing in the 2011/12 A-League season/. The Fury have had money problems in the past, and were given money by the FFA, but failure to pay now, and finishing dead last in the a-league really destroyed all hope they had. This means that all NQF fans will now have to support another team, and will be disappointed! |

I heard about this. I feel sorry for North Queensland but they were so far in debt that that they were a risk to the FFA. When the FFA and the Fury met before the announcement, the FFA had wanted to see that Fury had raised $1.5 million ...yet they had only raised about $300,000! Hopefully another franchise may appear that represents North Queensland in future! |

It is sad when things go belly up for these sporting clubs, but at the same time with merchandise and ticket sales how did they go bankrupt it's not the Players Fault. They spend a lot of money on there players and rarely make anything on revenue sales of tickets and merchandise. How do they reclaim there loss, they borrow off the powers that be who inevitably shut them down. It's a sad world but that's the truth. |
