PS3 Black ops servers may be closed for good!

Ok this is all very alarming but unless direct confirmation comes from Activision themselves, angry gamers should rest easy...for now!

In an email to a concerned customer, Senior Support Representative at Activision Dov Carson had this to say about the current situation!

Quote:

"Well I have nothing else to offer and I too follow forums and have many friends who play and enjoy the game for all of its features. As an avid gamer, I would also disagree with any legalities involving a single aspect of a game as online experience may change at any time. The publishers have the right to shut down the servers for their game at any time as well which based on the number of reported posts from users may be a viable solution over the free PSN.

In any event, if you would like to send your game disc into us, we can either;

a) Exchange for a sealed (unopened) copy of the game that you can take back to the retailer

b) Swap for another platform

c) Exchange for another Activision title of equal or lesser value.

These are the options that we are able to offer to you as a one time courtesy.

Instead of a commitment to fix these issues, it appears Activision have given up! Who's at fault here? Is it Activision for their buggy game or Sony for so far being unable to stop the serious breaches of Playstation 3 security?

Let's just hope that Black Ops servers aren't shut for good!

So.. theyre just saying they have the RIGHT to close it down? That means jack shit. They only have that in their terms of use in case their servers crash and the like and they say they "shut them down". If it actually broke down, and it is leaked, then Activision are held responsible, which could lead to them generating a huge loss of money. And we know how all companies work, dont we?

Nothing happened, someone is just making a huge deal out of an automatic reply system that Activision employs.

seriously there is no hacks for the ps3 on black ops and if there is the people get banned for good, this is different on XBOX, the first game i played i played against was no prestige with a golden famas, others had this aswell, the only hackers i have seen were people exploiting the Glitches in the game and those were dealt with very quickly, i really do doubt these servers will be shut down BECAUSE xbox is fair worsly hacked then ps3 (blackops anyways) if anything the MW2 servers should be shut down every second game you join is hacked

fucken treyarch...fucken activision......

FUCK OFF!!!!

Activision have no rights whatsoever to shut the PS3 server!!

not our fault there are hackers, nor is it Sony's its ACTIVISION's FAULT!!!!

You know how many sales they would lose if they shut the PS3 servers? and there arent even any hackers on BO, only CoD4 and MW2, which not many people play anymore!

If they every close the servers we shall have a giant protest!

I agree with Duke and others.

With megasellers Call of Duty franchise, there are so many playing online, if it does happen (which it won't) Sony itself would be the first in the line to kick some ass, as they WILL lose potential and current players on the PSN.

Yeah I agree with most people sentiments! Firstly the PS3 version of Black Ops has topped 8 million copies by itself. Secondly it would be a PR disaster for Sony and Activision.

Finally though the biggest reason it won't happen is MONEY!. Sure the situation may not be the best right now, but hackers or not, millions of people play each day. There are also millions of people ready to pay for the Map packs too. Activision aren't going to miss out.

The era of PS3 hacking may be upon us, but the Wii has been hacked for years and we all know how bad hacking got in World at War Wii. Treyarch have made leaps and bounds on Wii security over the years and the next Call of Duty games on PS3 will surely do the same!

So summing up I think we are in the clear!
