Friend Codes return (3DS)?

The news about Nintendo's upcoming 3DS continues to grow as we approach it's release in March. Some news that many people including myself will be disappointed about are that Friend Codes look set to return. Also unlike the recent Wii version of Call of Duty Black Ops, it again appears that friend codes are two way.

Those also hoping for 1 universal Friend Code attached to each system will also be sorely disappointed as Super Street Fighter 4 3D Edition has pretty much confirmed that each game will have Friend Codes too.

The return of Friend Codes has not yet been confirmed by Nintendo but the signs so far are looking grim!

UPDATE: There may actually be some hope yet. Capcom have heard the rumours and have said they will be providing more information about online play on the 3DS soon.

In a rather strange turn of events, it appears that the game may indeed have friend codes but you will be able to add recently played people with a FC. Stay Tuned.

Nooo... Not this again... I don't want to go code hunting and adding everyone on chat and asking them to add me cause most people can't be stuffed. Why did they even think about this again whats the benefit??

I understand why they do it! Nintendo are afraid of online predators and know that if some reputation crushing story comes out, they can just say "Well that person must have not only given their FC out but also added the predator them self!"

Nintendo are very much known as a family friendly company and think that the Friend Code System is a plus in the eyes of parents. Sadly it's a minus in the eyes of serious gamers!

So finishing off... if you are a Pedo please don't buy a 3DS...because your not going to be able to pick up kids with it!

Well guess this is out of the question for me, I was looking really forward to hunting down some little kids.

Haha nah in all seriousness I hated the friend codes, stupid idea and like slayerz said you gotta go around scavenging for it, pain in the ass.

UPDATE: Nintendo has said that the 'friend code' system has been updated. On DS people would have to enter 16 digit code to play games with their friends. Nintendo has said that the 3DS will remember friend codes online and offline and you'll always only have one friend code.

That pedo pic is seriously creepy.

16 digits, long enough?

I guess its only cause the DS is THAT popular

No you misread it Brink..the DS had 16 digits, no news yet on how long the 3DS' friend codes will be. At least though it's only 1 friend code tied into your console and not separate FC's for each game!

Oh woops! Well that doesn't seem to be bad at all. It is practically like adding people over PSN and XboxLive now which is a good thing!

Yeah but as you said...the DS system has sold nearly 150,000,000 systems worldwide so with the 3DS they probably need 9 or 10 numbers at the very least.

Interesting to see that Nintendo are sticking very close to the DS in terms of advertising, logo's and theme even though the 3DS is a much more capable system in technical terms.

For a dedicated boredom DS user like me, this is sounding better and better.
One singular friend code sounds great.
