ok let me just make this very clear before anyone posts all different reasons and start a fight... I play soccer and I know pretty much all the rules. Harry Kewell definitely commited a handball, there is know doubt about that. A handball is always from just under the shoulder to the hand. The ball hit just under his shoulder, which was very unlucky as for the red card, that was very harsh. Kewell's hand was very close to his body and it was a yellow card offence this is a red card offence [dohtml]<object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/RyspPcBlLp0&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/RyspPcBlLp0&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>[/dohtml] well that is my opinion penalty but yellow card |

It may have been a handball but I certainly don't think it was deliberate so a yellow card should have been the maximum that Kewell got! The referees sure are spoiling Australia's tournament!

Deserved a red card flat out, he handballed it on the GOAL LINE, so he is playing goalkeeper. The rulebook states "Any handball stopping or slowing down an obvious goal oppurtunity results in an immediate red card." Australia aren't unlucky, they just make needless mistakes!

aaahhh yes they do but the red card must only be shown if the hand was used on purpose for example: in 2007, a Melbourne Victory Striker (either Fred or Alessandro) dived like a goalkeeper and saved the ball with his hand, he was shown a straight red (obviously). Kewell had his hand at his side, which means that he never intentionally used his hand, he was trying to get his body in front... so it was a clear yellow |

Yellow Card + Penalty A red card was excessive, and yes I agree, if there was going to be a red card it should have been to that behind slide tackle.

It shouldnt of been a handball because it was unintentional. Plus a Brazilian player did the same thing, but he got let off. Shows that umpires arent doing their job properly. http://www.goal.com/en-us/news/article?contentId=1986711 |

Well, imo it should have been a yellow card. It wasn't deliberate, but it stopped a goal. |
