i watched michael moores 'Sicko' last night, about the us healthcare system and how its driven purely by profit.
i was absolutely mortified to see how people are treated ... and how one in 6 people dont have any insurance.

im just gobsmacked.

anyone else seen it? what are your thoughts?
wasnt there a guy on BE who came back to the uk cos he couldnt afford the healthcare (thydney? or did he come back for some other reason?)

I didn't see it but have watched a programme a while back about someone being really Ill and not being able to afford the treatment they needed. I thought it was sad but flipping glad that we have the NHS despite people knocking it. Would hate to see it ever go and end up like the US

From what my dr was saying the NHS may well end up that way .... the funding just isn't there and there are too many old people using the system and not enough young people working to pay for it. I hate the US system but even here it can be hard to find a bulk billing place these days. Mine is no longer bulk billing but for some reason my dr always does bb but when T turns 16 next year I'll have to pay for every appointment so she'll be off to the ED only when really ill!!!

I just hope that sooner or later all levels of government look inwardly and re-evaluate priorities.

Funding things like gay / lesbo Candle Factories Inc or The Cake Icing Society for He-men have to go.

I exagerate of course but funding fringe element stuff and non essential things has to stop.

What is more important than the health of a nation, feeding it and housing it?

Get that right first.
