In 2006 Australia had an overall tax to GDP ratio of 31.6per cent, Australia is a low tax country by comparison with other developed economies.
Australia has the eighth lowest tax burden of the 30 OECD countries.

I have to say .. it doesn't feel like it ! Maybe it's because of the extra stuff on top you have to pay like medical and dental even for kids.
