I've just been having a nose on facebook and low and behold a lovely post on their by my daughter claiming this lad is 'f'ing awesome' (but not shortened down! From what I can gather this lad has actually logged on as her and posted it up, from the following comments. I am so fuming! It is too late to ring up and give my wee darling a call to rant at her so I left a seriously unimpressed/ disappointed and banned comment on the post and said if it was indeed a so called friend posting that on her page then I would be banning them as well. She is now banned from that place and I think it is actually a good thing she is staying at her dad's tonight otherwise I would kill her!

Am I over reacting? I know that kids swear but I don't want to read it on her facebook page where all our relatives have access to see it and the age she is I am so angry at her as she knows better than to swear around me! :she:

Been there and have now learnt not to look on my kids facebook pages unless there's anything that worries me. I didn't go overboard with T when she swore but I did point out the various 'friends' she had accepted meant that she needed to make comments 'appropriate'. Seemed to work (I think!)

That is one problem with Facebook that I am not keen on.
As well as a 15 yr old daughter, I also have a 15 year old Niece, my brothers daughter. I am considering the implications of de-friending her, due to the language that she uses, which I seem to have no choice but to see, as it all appears on my own page/wall or whatever..

Fortunately my daughter has learned from me that swearing is only to be used when meant, therefore it gets the reaction that is required from those who hear it at the time.

You should see the faces of those who hear a non-swearer come out with blue language :D

She's only 12 and I think it is totally inappropriate as I certainly don't want to read that on her page, let alone all the grandparents and younger aged kids of friends. I do think it's this other kid hacking into her account so when she comes over later I will be altering her email address back to mine and resetting her password and deleting that friend from her list! She has deleted the post this morning so she has read how annoyed I am and most likely cacking her pants about coming to my house later today...knowing I will let rip lol I think I will do the calm and reserved parent tactic as that seems to scare the life out of them instead of the ranting out of control one :D

Not being funny but she's not old enough at 12 to have a facebook account. The min age is 13 and this is something that does drive me a bit mad. I absolutely refuse to have anyone under the age of 13 as my 'friend' on facebook.

Facebook is the bane of my life as the peer pressure and bullying that comes with it keeps me run off my feet at school. I have an account and like to play silly games but the problems that kids have keep me, parents and the local police very busy.
Are the school doing work on cyber footprints, responsible behaviour etc? If not it might be worth asking them to. ACMA do an excellent parent website to go through with your kids and it lets them know the knock on effects of posting online or letting other people have access to your accounts.
Good luck.

Yes I know she is under age on there and she only joined up as I was fed up of her always on my facebook running my farm for me. It is on my email account and I have alerts on everything so I know what she is up to at all times. This is the one rule I am very strict with and that is she can go on there but I have full access to everything, if she alters it I will close her account asap.

She thinks she is now banned from stepping foot on the internet so I'll let her carry on thinking that for a while. I have altered all her passwords and the email address so that it is one I get in work just to be instantly alerted to every move on her page. I have had to have a serious talk to both the girls as they are coming back with this flippant back chatting attitude as Roy seems to let them just please themselves.....that is so not the case in my house so I firmly reminded them about responsibility and respect!!! She was also there when I deleted the kid that hacked her account.

So I have two angels now trying to be all sweet and innocent again....for the moment lol
