Its a big Satement, but it is actually the truth. We have put together the equivalent of 5 chilled meat Containers (75,000kg) of the Highest Grade Beef Australia has to offer. For our customers that remember a couple of years ago, we are again dusting off the loading Dock at Yatala (and opening up an extra room at Eagle Farm), wheeling the pallets out onto the floor and saying "Go for It". There is NO Cheaper way I can deliver meat to you. I reckon that 90% of the Beef we are selling this weekend is BELOW the Wholesale Price of the last 12 months. Don't even talk to me about retail prices, because 80% of this beef you will not even find in Queensland Shops. The majority of this beef is exported and finds its way into the "Exclusive" Hotel and Restaurant Trade in Tokyo and Osaka. That market has ABSOLUTELY CRASHED in the last 3 weeks and presented us with some unbelievable opportunities that I just had to take advantge of. Most of this beef retails in Japan for over $200kg, PLUS I can tell you that I have seen 4 of the 6 Rib Fillets that we are selling this weekend retail in both Sydney and Melbourne for in-excess of $65kg.(and the same can be said for 5 of the Porterhouse all retailing above $60kg). So when we talk about this being the absolute best meat money can buy at probably the cheapest price in History, we mean it!
So the deal is this;
Doors open at Eagle Farm and Yatala ONLY at 4am on both Saturday and Sunday (and Close at 4pm). If you have been to a sale where we open up the "Factory Doors" you understand why they are not held at the shops. If you have NEVER been to a Factory Sale, PLEASE do not email me and ask me why they are not at your local shop, just come along this weekend and you will understand why.

However I am just off out to my local butcher, for todays special of Pork chops at $4.99 kg. That's tonights dinner sorted.

Hi,
Well, with an exhausted husband sleeping after a huge “High Grade” clearance sale in which Andrew worked 26 hours straight, I decided to write this week’s newsletter and let him sleep the day away. Enough slave driving for one day, hey?
You know, I always find the link between food and health really interesting. I was watching a documentary about a family in the USA who basically ate fast foods every day. It was cheaper to eat these foods instead of shopping for and buying healthy options at the supermarket. To buy a stem of broccoli was more expensive than two hamburgers through the drive through and I found that really disturbing. They were aware of the link between these foods and their ailing health but were so governed by the amount of money they had to spend. The father was diabetic, the mother and two daughters were obese and all had a series of health issues. The medication cost them over $100 a week (yes, a week) and when they factored in their rent and living costs, running the car and general basic needs, there was very little money left for food!
I find the concept of living on processed foods on a daily basis (anything in a package) unbelievable. The documentary showed how most of the ingredients are government subsidized. It’s unbelievable that they are manufactured, transported, processed, cooked and served cheaper than you can buy a stick of broccoli. To think that a person’s medication for a problem more than likely exists because of a poor diet, has to make you wonder who profits from all of this and, even more importantly, who suffers!
My mother is a wonderful cook and I have learnt most of what I know from watching and helping her as a child. I think learning to cook is the most important thing you can learn. I suppose that’s why all the cooking shows do so well. We were both talking about this very subject the other day and she says she still avoids anything packaged apart from the common basics. Even lettuce which seems to come ready to go in a plastic bag, she avoids and gets the whole lettuce dirt and all and she’s right. She buys her fresh fruit and vegetable from the local wholesale vegetable supplier or the farmers markets and of course she gets all her meat from us. Everything is thought about, prepared and baked from scratch and tastes delicious and even though, as I grew up being one of three children, my Mum worked full time and did all the housework her whole life, everything was do ne and done well. This I have to admire and aspire to be like, because I sometimes find myself saying that it’s such a fast life nowadays, so takeaway and packaged options make life easier. But I look at my folks and the fact that up until a few years ago my 85 year old father walked every day and he was never on medication of any description, which is probably due to a good healthy diet and exercise. And my Mum well, she is amazing, fitter than most young people and a great role model for me and my children.
The moral I suppose, is to stay away from the sugary foods and greasy takeaways that look somewhat healthy, or the junk foods that carry triple numbers behind them to preserve or enhance flavor and to eat good quality meat (from us I hope), plenty of vegetables and get walking or swimming or whatever your thing is if you can possibly do so. We all know the message, but do we live it?
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed the glorious weather over the weekend and as the school holidays approach, get some well earned rest for a couple of weeks.
Oh, for the record, I know Andrew was disappointed that the “line up” was so long at the weekend and that he didn't have enough meat on show. All he said when he got home was, “he was overwhelmed by the turnout”. Knowing Andrew, I think he will be doing it all again this weekend, especially when he's able to buy this beef (that is not normally available) at these prices!

What she says is very true. We have a food budget of $100 a week for everything and haven't had any fruit or meat for months. We live off potatoes, eggs, pasta, frozen peas and baked beans if they're on special. I am well aware it's not a healthy diet and I really don't feel healthy either but it's how it has to be at the min. So far I've managed to avoid McDs but eating there is reall so cheap these days compared to shop prices
