I have a job interview! I have not actively been looking for work but as part of my job is teaching people how to search for work I do practice what I preach and I have a couple of Seek job mails set up. Basically I get daily emails from Seek which match my search criteria. I got a mail on Thursday and there was a job for a Training Manager ~ ERP Software . I read the job description I had all the skills for the job and its a pretty good salary too. On Friday morning I write my cover letter and check my resume and submit an application at around 9.00am. At around 9.45 my phone rings with an unknown number. Its the recruitment agency!!! After a brief chat I am invited to an interview at the agency on Tuesday. One of the things I will have to do is While you're here meeting with us, we will also ask you perform a Video CV (or VCV). This is a part of our process that provides you with an opportunity to express your personality, abilities and motivations visually via recorded video. On average, your VCV should run for about 45 - 60 seconds, so in preparation, have a think about what you might say to sell your abilities in a video snapshot. We'll give you more hints and tips when you arrive. I'm also further practicing what I preach as I have been out of the ERP market for a while and theres a whole new set of terms I have got to cram into my sieve for brains and prepare my questions and background knowledge. I know I can do this job but I'm also a wee bit scared at stepping back into this field. |

45-60 seconds? It would take me that long to remember my name in an interview situation :nosepicker: Good luck, sure you'll walk it :fingerscrossed: |

Terry reckons your memory must be getting better all the time. He says "A couple of years ago, by 9.45 Matt wouldn't have even remembered that he'd applied for the job." :giggle: Terry also sends his good luck wishes :crossfingers: |

I don't know who the vendor is. I do know its hosted ERP though. I have a decent grounding in the general principles. All will be revealed tomorrow. I have a portfolio of my work and I have prepared my script for the video cv thing. I can't do much more than that. So relax and breathe.... |

The SaaS bit is where I'm a bit behind. I've been reading up on it a bit though. IaaS PaaS etc etc. |

The interview went very well. The consultant said she was interviewing a few more people this week but I was the best she had seen so far. I had to make a video CV that ran for a minute summarising who I was. I had prepared my script and I got it done on the second take (I had practiced a few times through the day). Anyway I left the interview feeling pretty ok about it. I get home and my phone is flat. I put it onto charge and a while later I go back and check it and there is a voice message waiting for me. I ring it and it is the consultant and they want to see me tomorrow at 5.30(Because they know I'm at work) for a formal interview!!!!!! |

I've been back about 10 minutes and the interview went VERY well. I walked out with the best feeling I've had at an interview. The job sounds absolutely fantastic. One of the things I said at the interview, when he said that were looking for someone who is going to stay for the company, was that the job from what he described could be the pinnacle of my career and looked as if it offers me everything that I want. I am really excited about this job, I know I shouldn't get to excited because I havn't got it yet and I don't know how good the other candidates are etc etc but I really do want this job. Location is not the best as it will be around 50 minutes to work. |
