I have now had my heat pump hot water system for 2 full years, and have now fully checked the actual savings.

In the year before getting it, we used 4,741 kWh between 3 people.

In the first year with it, we used 2,528 between 3 people.
In the second year we used 2,849 kWh between 4 people.

So we are saving 2,200 kwh per year based on 3 people. Our current unit cost is $0.1246 per Off peak unit.

The annual electric savings for this unit are therefore $274 for the current year.
Last year was $257.

So $530 saved in the first 2 years. Not bad for as system that cost us $420 (from memory) after rebates

My heat pump has saved 53% of the power cost of the old normal electric hot water system.
The Quantum Rep quoted 60%. Not too far out.

Not sure what a Heat Pump costs these days though.
