I was in Cleveland earlier, near the fruit and veg store, and I heard a call come out: "Bananas have just arrived, only 99c kilo"

Well, everyone went bananas, and bought Bananas, and within no-time they had no Bananas left again...

I got 2 kgs

Yes, they also had the strawberries at $1.99 a punnet today, I was going to get some, but forgot !!

They have some good prices there, but it isn't often that I go into Cleveland for shopping.
Tomatoes for $1.99 kg was OK too.

Price of bananas is a sore point up this way.

They're only grown a few kilometers away yet we pay far more than other areas of Aus.

3.48/kg last week.

Growers say they are in plentiful supply and say the supermarkets are ripping us off.

If the cyclone rips through Innisfail again there won't be any to sell though.

How about the local fruit shops ? Do they do better prices ?

The local supermarket is about 3 times the price I paid from the fruit shop.

Missus says no more than 50c cheaper and worse quality.

Our fruit prices are ridiculous. Anything locally grown is expensive as they ship out a lot. They keep going on about the obesity rates but our fruit bowl has been empty for way too long now. Apples are over $8 a kg :omg:

Cos is even more expensive !!!

I've moved over to Pineapples instead. 99 cents in the fruit shop, but exactly the same ones in Woolworths for $1.99.
