Holly has brought home a stray black kitten she found at Ormiston Station. She says she went around to some nearby houses and asked if they knew or owned the kitten, but no luck, so she brought him home here. OMG as if I have not got enough with my two cats and two dogs already!!!! I have put it in the laundry with some food, water and litter tray and bed and my two cats are suspiciously sitting and staring at the door. I dare not let them near the poor kitten  This kitten looks healthy enough, but no collar or any tags. I will take it to the vets in the morning to check if its microchipped and if not hopefully they will be able to find a home for it. What is it with me and animals ???? |

That's a good thing, honestly. I know it's extra work etc but rather that than the poor thing left to wander on it's own |

No I would hate to think of wandering around lost and lonely, i just wish she had tried harder to find where it had come from or given it to one of her friends to take home  |

Thank you for taking in the poor little mite and to your daughter for caring enough to ensure the kitten wasn't left to God knows what fate out there on its own. I'm always concerned that some sick little git will do something horrible to a defenceless tiny lost kitten, they do you know. At least this way it has a chance of being reunited with its owner or the vet will see it goes to a good home. Which may of course turn out to be ... er...yours. :D |

Just took the kitten to the local vets to check if its microchipped, and its not!!!! Brought him home again, as hoping Holly's friend will be able to have him :crossfingers: Otherwise I will have to take him to the RSPCA but I dont think they will have any probs rehoming him as he is a very good looking kitten, jet black with amber eyes, about 3 to 4 months old  |

Well he is a lovely cat, very very handsome and very friendly. I had the vet give him a worm tablet today, but he will need micro chipping, vaccinations and desexing, all of which would probably cost about $250 in total. Not heard anything from Holly's friend yet, so MP if you want him, let me know!!!! I would sort of rather him go to a family, rather than a friend who lives in a house with other uni students  I cant keep him much longer because our two cats are getting stressed listening to him  |

Him says no and I see the reasons why but......... :S More work needed to convince him so this one is a no but if anyone has kittens, my mission is to work on him and find arguments to wipe out the reasons. |

Yes I would agree there OHippy but they also "break" a home... So far my two youngsters have managed to break their own plates by jumping up on the counter when I am getting their dinner ( they have their own china saucers from the op shop lol - no plastic for them) Break the lid of the casserole reserved for cooking their chicken by jumping up and trying to lick it (This is an old brown Pearsons I brought with me from England  ) I now cover it with foil... Break a plant pot holder my late mother gave me for my new cottage when I lived in England  this is waiting to be glued together again Break threads in the fly screen of the balcony door because a certain tabby can't "get" the cat flap always and just climbs and climbs and climbs. Scratch the join in the carpet under a door when inadvertantly shut in a room because instead of coming when called as I leave the room they hide and ignore me. I could go on. and on and on and on... Don't let hubby read this MP Edited by TopCat3, Jan 16 2010, 07:25:00 PM.

I must be mistaken MP I thought you said in some other thread you didn't like pets in the home - anything four legs or more - sorry if I've got you wrong but it really surprises me seeing you say this - pleasantly I might add, I always like a cat lover! :kissed: |

Spike has broken a few fly screens ,the blinds in a few rooms ,scratched the doors ,especially bathroom doors (he hates it if we dont let him watch as we shower :blushing: OH knows about that lot .But have hidden the crystal stopper he played footie with ,the china flowers that needed playing with and turned the christmas tree round so he couldnt see the chewed branches. But wouldnt be without the ginger nutter licking my eyeballs at 4am to wake me because he is a bit peckish ,he is the baby &we are his pets just like most cats treat their owners:crazy: |

More than four legs is a big no no. The girls want a dog but neither I nor Kevan are big on dogs. We're both cat lovers although he sees the cleaning, smells etc as a big problem but once the cat is there he's as soft as butter with it. Me, I've always had cats. The parents had three Siameses before I was born and the boy had his wicked way with the girls and they ended up with about 12 kittens. We normally had two but once or twice just one but I adore cats, I just know that where we are now is not the right environment and whilst I wouldn't mind having to keep one as an indoor cat, Kevan couldn't and he loves the wildlife and the birds around too much to let a cat loose |

Get Kevan to build a cat enclosure, then your cat could be an indoor cat but could have a safe bit of outside space too  Our cats used to be indoor cats in Melbourne, but here they go outside for a wander around the garden in the daytime but always come in at night  |

http://www.catmax.com.au/ I had my balcony enclosed - best thing I've done - they can't get on top of the walls now and risk falling off - that's another thing - Cleo and Colette never tried to climb the walls (Colette can't now of course) but these two....some scary stories before the Catmax. |
