I play scrabble on facebook with quite a few friends who are on my contact list. I also play with randoms sometimes, just start a new game and play with whoever joins first. I usually play a few games with these randoms, but never engage in chat etc. Anyway just recently I have noticed after a few games, some of these guys are sending me a friend request

Now please, why would I want to be friends with someone I occasionally play online scrabble with???

It just strikes me as bizarre. I have ignored the requests and have noticed these randoms no longer finish the games or start new games, which I dont really care about, as plenty more friends and randoms to play scrabble with, but its just strange

Numbers !

Everyone wants more friends than everyone else. I was reading the other day that it is a status symbol now.

My real life Facebook has 5 friends, and two of those live in my house
But that is enough for me. I've never been one to share my life with others very much.

Its usually the people who have no life other than on the internet.

I have had requests from people who are my friends friends, why would I want to be friends with someone I don't know, just because we have a mutual friend...sorry, but I am not here to make up the numbers!

Thankfully ignoring requests does not send out a notifiication, but sometimes I wish it did and said something like "feck off txxt, we don't know or like each other"

I have got 7 request that I have chosen to ignore. One is a family member who I would rather stick pins in my eyes than her know my stuff.

The other have öne mutual friend"or some such crap. Jeeze what saddos! I only ever add people I know (well apart from some of you, but you know what I mean  ) and the 60 odd people I have are people I like, not just there to make me look like I have loads of friends...which I don't.

Oh and I actually have two ladies whom I have spoken to about the dyspraxia stuff a fair few times and who have helped me out with facts and figures for my letter to the powers that be, for funding.

I have 78 'friends' on my Eric Diamond facebook site but they wouldn't let me use the name ABCDiamond, although it is in the url link www.facebook.com/abcdiamond

and 28 members on my ABCDiamond group with a long URL http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=87179245438&ref=search&sid=1478582690.1047011696..1

I think I made a mistake, not understanding how facebook works. I should have invited them to the group, and not the other site.

Too complicated...

I have quite a few 'friends' who I don't know but then I play games where you need 'crew' to get more points, cash etc. Funnily enough, one of them I have become really friendly with !!

I have friends on facebook who I have never met, but consider them friends through here or Be etc. Its when I get random requests from someone I have randomly had a scrabble game with, that I think is strange

Why on earth would you want to accept a friend request from someone you have nothing to do with or dont even know

I get a repeat friend request from a woman that bullied be relentlessly for 4 years at school! I have other school friends on my friend list who were also bullied by her, and they have all accepted, but I get p##sed off every time she sends me a request. Why on earth would I accept a request from someone who was such a bitch to me at school, and I mean absolute bitch, not a nice bone in her body type of bitch. She will get the message one day.

Yep, that was me aswell

I got confused with it all, kept getting lost and creating again and again....

Not sure how many accounts I have with them now ...

I saw another group on there, with loads of members but no Admin, so out of curiosity I clicked on 'make an admin', and lo and behold, I am now the admin for it

Give me a website that uses code like <table border="0" width="100%">
<tbody><tr><td valign="top">Line 1<br>Line 2<br>Line 3</td><td valign="top">Line 1Line 2Line 3</td><td valign="top">Line 1<br>Line 2<br>Line 3</td></tr></tbody></table>
and I am OK, but facebook.....

I'd accept her as a friend and then do a long rant on her wall or whatever it's called explaining why you've been blocking her, why you don't want her as a friend, tell her she's always been a complete bitch, you had to have counselling to get over her treatment when you were a kid and life is too short and too good to let her back in now. Then block her.

Being the completely non confrontational person that I am, I will probably do that, but thanks anyway Penny, I loved your idea too.

I had a 'friend' cull a couple of months ago as i came to the same conclusion; why want to be freinds with someone just for the sake of it ... and promptly deleted about 20+ such contacts.

it felt very good!

I had a cull too. I got rid of those who just read my facebook without posting but then passed on info to other people to stir the pot. I also had a massive alter on my security and only friends can see most stuff, not friends of friends or networks.

I did that too and I wish everyone would. I hate getting loads of pics of peoples friends I have never met and would hate for them to be getting mine!

I don't need to cull, cos I'm too fussy on who I invite :giggle:

Tantalisingly Opulent Pussy, Caring And Thoughtful

I only joined FB so I could network about my campaign on food/petfood irradiation and someone who understood how it all worked set up the group page for me. My nephews and nieces in England are on there so it's one way of keeping up with them (the only way, with the nephews!). I find it all a bit tiresome and confusing but I think it's more for younger people as a social networking site rather than publicising a campaign. I blocked a couple of people I needed to. I don't put much personal stuff on there at all apart from between myself and the nephews/nieces just little comments.
If any of you want to visit the group about the campaign here's the link
http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=69740109928

It shows you what I've been up to the past year apart from rehabilitating my cat. Hardly stopped really...
