I see from this article that we are being urged to have our families vaccinated before the start of the new school year and preferably before christmas :scared: Maybe I don't understand all this stuff..... but..... hasn't it appeared that swine flu is in most poeple a fairly mild illness with the exception of those with an underlying medical condition and pregnant women? I suppose as a precaution to all these people we should all get a dose of vaccine, but I can't get the feeling out of my head that it's all been a bit rushed, how can they come up with an effective and safe vaccine so quickly? How can they assure us it's effective and safe? Any of you medical people out there explain it to me? |

Not heard that. I was offered it last time I went to the docs but turned it down. If you're normal  and don't mix with people with 'underlying conditions' I wouldn't have it. Normal flu is far worse and I'm not bothering having that flu jab either. I would rather make sure that there's plenty of the stuff around for all those at risk. Like you, whilst I'm impressed they've come up with a vaccine so quick, I'm dubious as to the reliability and safety. Anyway, the next swine flu will be a slightly different variety and this vaccine won't work for it (I'm guessing anyway). I think we vaccine against too much these days. Obviously if you have health issues and low whatsit then fine but the majority need to build up their own immunity to stuff and suffer some germs. |

I have never had a flu vac so wont be having this one either. I would rather take my chances with the flu if I catch it, and build up natural immunity  |
