Not only do we have all the Christmas stuff to buy in December but the bills from the utilities seem to arrive as well, think its to pay for the staff Christmas parties

How to spend a grand without even trying, dog at the vet yesterday $600.00, she was having her 100,000 km checkup. Cleaned teeth, took off a few lumps and bumps, cleaned anal glands (lovely job) really help the diet Anyway she is very sorry for herself today, looks like she has been in a fight.

Next lot of money, had the septic tank pumped it was full to the top so glad we did it before Christmas. Another lovely job to have. Where there is muck there is money my mum says.

Now have to get cracking on Christmas.

I could not cope with big bills like that, so I pay all utilities by monthly direct debit, same for car and house insurance and rates. The only big bills we get are the car regos, which unfortunately always fall in December

ABC is your water not included in your rates bill ?

It'll cost a little extra - but why not renew one for 3 months, the other for 6? When they next come up for renewal you can renew for 12 months again.

That's assuming you can do shorter renewals where you are. You can here in SA.

We still haven't sold our NSW house yet, and that water bill is for that house. I just wish the people in it could pay the water themselves....

The 2004 water bill averaged $10.59 pw (423 litres per day)
The 2009 water bill averaged $26.55 pw (1,268 litres per day) !!

When we rented in Melbourne, we had to pay for our water useage ourselves. The landlord paid the sewarage and service costs, but the actually useage we had to pay for, which seemed fair.

Thats a huge amount of water your tenants are using :scared:

Ours always came in December cos thats when we got here and set up. Now both the cars have been changed, the rates I pay monthly and the house insurance change when we moved. The only thing still in Dec is the ambulance, theres no way i wouldn't pay that!

we wrote into our lease that the tenents were liable for 100% of water usage charges, we are still up for the water rates though which is a pain.

The actual water usage cost at the time, of about $150 for the year, wasn't to bad, so we didn't worry about it. But the water usage now, at $803 for 2009, is a very different matter.

I think I would be looking into why its so much for the water big increase, hope there is not a leaky tap in the garden or pipe. Perhaps the tenants should be restricted

Gretchen had a bad day yesterday but she is much better today and gets her plaster off tomorrow so she will be happier then.

When we had the septic pumped found the pump is not working properly so that has to be fixed.

I am starting to think about food for Christmas Day. Thought I might use Coles on line and get it delivered rather than battling around the supermarket. Will have a look at Woolworths as well.
