That's how it was explained to me :dunno:

What is twittering for beginners ?

Twittering

Overall, Twitter is full of trivial little messages that sometimes merge into a coherent conversation before disintegrating again. I like it. Instant messaging is too intrusive. Email takes too much effort. Twittering feels just right for the little things: where I am, what I’m doing, what I’m thinking.

Load of rubbish

My twittering by a right twit.

I am now doing the washing up.. And I assume the whole world is interested in that.

I suppose it is Ok if it is just between friends, and they wish to know what the others are doing.
But I hear that companies are using it to advertise themselves.

I just googled "abcdiamond and twitter"

found this http://twitter.com/mylearningspace/statuses/5143269824

Now I am confused... why would someone have a page that just leads to a page I did on my site ?

Unless they are trying to beat google, and get people searching for things to look at their pages in between !

I have had a twitter account since its inception and before it became famous, do I use it no, right from the beginning I thought what a load of cobblers. Just a take on Facebook wall as far as I am concerned and I do not put much on it either. Who cares if I am in the loo, at the beach, etc they managed not knowing about it before. :nosepicker:

A friend of mine had a twitter account for a few weeks, while she had it she got 2 mobile phone stalkers, deleted her account and no more stalkers. She hadn't put her number on twitter but from the details she had put on there some nutcase was able to track her mobile number and made her life hell for a bit. She is an artist and has her details on various art websites where her paintings are for sale so her number is displayed in a few places, the nutter traced her number by her artwork!

we dabble with it a bit for work purposes - it did get used by the CFA during the bushfires as it had a direct feed from the updates on their site. Also its possible to feed updates from a site like that through your own twitter account, so there is potential for use in disasters such as storms and tornadoes, to track how they move.
At times we have also seen alerts from incidents such as hotel bombings in Indonesia, when locals pick up the news before the other media do, and earthquakes are often shown on there pretty quickly too - can give a heads up of a vital few seconds before a tsunami warning is received through officil channels.
There is a lot of unreliable stuff out there though, so you have to be careful to which feeds you give credibility.
