Today while working, I got phone calls from two separate doctors, they were genuine as gave me their names and practice details etc. First one wanted to know where she could send someone to get swabbed for swine flu, and where she could get masks from!!!! Second one wanted to know if it was safe to perscribe Tamiflu for a breastfeeding woman!!! I am not kidding. Seriously, I was amazed that they did not have this information themselves or have the ability to look it up - instead they phone a health advice line staffed by nurses. Its made me wonder about the qualifications of some doctors out there  |

Maybe their computer systems were down. I know it is a stretch but sometimes the systems do fail and I suppose that they thought that you would have the up to date info. Nicky |

But seriously every doctor has drug books, so does not need to use the computer. Also there is a National Perscribing Line staffed by pharmacists who can give info on drugs, every doctor should have knowledge on that. Also a doctor asking me where to send people for swabs is ridiculous, where do they normally send people to, and if they are not sure about swine flu swabbing, she should call a pathology lab for that info. Also there is a National Swine Flu hotline number which is 180 2007. I know I am not very sympathetic, but when I get ridiculous waste of time calls, it drives me mad. I dont know how much longer I will be able to stick this job  |

Its more likely that they are worried that most nurses will know more than a lot of doctors about different drugs and their effects  |
