I just did an online quote with Budget Direct as advertised at the top of the page and the quote came up almost half of what I currently pay with GIO. Does that sound right to anyone, is anyone using them? I am very tempted, but sounds too cheap if you know what I mean. Fully comp with a $600 excess and no drivers over 30 for a 5 year old Astra. |

I used to use them in the UK and they were good. GIO are pretty expensive with all the quotes I've done with then, however I might be concerned at a $600 excess. Does it include windscreen insurance? |

Insurance really is one of those things that is difficult to advise on. I've known different people who have rated just about every insurer as a bad insurer, but then, I was in the Insurance business many years ago. My favourites used to be Royal and SunAlliance, they paid out best for claims, but charged the highest premiums. Budget Direct do say they are selective in who they insure. If that is correct, than it could justify the cheaper premiums. I considered them last year, it was touch and go, and I think I deliberated long enough to avoid having to make a decision. If you don't make a claim, they are definately better.... ;) If you do make a claim ? :dunno: Obviously they do make payouts, otherwise we would see them on today tonight etc  Not much help am I ... |

I use Budget Direct. I've never claimed on my car ins for over 20 years, if I'd insured with 'good payers' and paid the higher prems I'd be out of pocket loads now ! |
