While I was out walking Daisy this afternoon, Zac decided to jump off the back of the couch and hurt his foot. By the time I got home he was screaming and his big toe looked a bit misshapen. I put some ice on it for him and was about to give him some childrens panadol when Holly informed me she had given him an adult dose of nurofen  After dinner he was still complaining non stop, and it looked more swollen and bruised, so I decided to take him to the local hospital to have it looked at. Well he has fractured his big toe, and its now taped up and he has to keep weight off it and wear solid shoes for three weeks. No sport, so he cant skateboard, play soccer, do cross country, high jump or long jump for at least three weeks. If it gets worse he will have to have his foot in plaster (if he knocks it again and displaces the bone any more). Ok well accidents happen, and we were less than two hours in the local public hospital from start to finish  but on the way out he managed to topple backwards whilst using the crutches and hit his head  We get home and he manages to fall in the front door with the bloody crutches, so now has bumps on the front and back of his head. I am thinking the crutches are going to cause a more serious injury than jumping off the couch. There is no way I can let him loose in school with them tomorrow. Just what I need, a 10 year old on crutches hanging around at home  Edited by Melibeam, Jun 4 2009, 09:06:18 PM.

Well he is now in bed, but not before he tripped up Shane and Holly with the crutches. He seems to think they are the best weapons ever. I think they will be disappearing in the morning  |

Well he has gone to school, I dont think he could wait to show off his injury and crutches!!! I am a bit surprised he is allowed to school with crutches. He is a nightmare with them, not only does he keep using them as weapons for poking and tripping people, but he is not very steady when using them and slipped when walking into school as the ground was wet. He was really annoyed as I spoke to his teacher and asked him to keep an eye on Zac for messing around with the crutches. He said he would give a warning talk to him first thing  Its a pain as I will have to walk to his classroom with him every day for the next three weeks, to help him carry his bags and his saxophone, normally I just drop him outside and leave, or he rides his bike  |
