As you may or may not know, when we decided to move over here, we took the heart wrenching decision to leave my baby, Fluff, behind. The lovely new owner of our house, Ali, offered to have her and when we went back last year to see everyone, we were able to spend hours with Fluff. Got an email a few hours ago to say she'd passed away at the vet's :upset: When I saw who the message was from I just knew what it was going to say and had to force myself to open it. She was 18 and the most lovable cat. She had a brilliant life, and I am so happy that she was able to live out her last years in her own home and loved to bits by Ali and her kids but bloody hell it hurts :upset: Abs was with me when I opened it, she wobbled slightly but is a non emotional type person, rang Kevan who asked if I was ok and then changed the subject . Got the bloody awful job of telling Heather when she comes out of school. Better have the tissues handy :upset: |

Really sorry to hear this Penny. I know she was 18, I know she had a great life but it's still bound to hurt like hell. Maybe it's time to plant a Fluff Tree in the garden. |

That is really sad news, but to get to 18 is a fantastic achievement and she must have had a very happy and contented life  We left our cat Jessie behind with a good friend of mine and she is still going strong at 15 years old, but I dread the day I get bad news about her. I got her when Holly was a baby and it broke my heart leaving her in the UK but she was a very nervous cat and I knew she would not have coped well with the journet and quarantine, so have no regrets about not bringing her, and just know she is well loved and happy now. Sorry again MP about your bad news  |

She did have a brilliant life. I honestly thought she would pine away when her brother died five years ago but she didn't. She took her time to 'allow' Ali and her kids to live in 'her' house but she did and they adored her and she was a very happy cat. Heather was totally devastated which helped me because I just had to pull myself together and comfort her. Need some more info from Ali as the email was very short - obviously one of those messages you don't want to write. She said they were all heartbroken and I've sent them flowers to say thank you for loving her and giving her a brilliant last few years. There's no way she could have managed a) the flight and quarantine and b) living in this area. She was very cuddly and loving - used to sit on my chest with both front paws either side of my neck and her head tucked under my chin but she was also too independent to have lived indoors and I would have been terrified to let her out, way too much wildlife in our block. Thanks guys. |
