We went away for the weekend with 3 other families to Pemberton, staying in the Karri Valley resort again where we stayed last year.
Posted Image
On the way there we passed through Nannup.
Posted Image
And headed towards the clouds. Or so we thought at first.
Posted Image
Saw the large bushfire in the distance then realised that's exactly where we driving towards. It was really eerie driving through a thick dark blanket of smoke before coming out the other side to sunlight again.

Driving into the resort.

Passing the emus

off to our log cabin nestled in these trees.

No falling out of the canoe this year although Alex did fall over in the waterfall  More wet clothes.

Friday we cycled, rowed, walked, fished and played mini golf before settling down for a few drinks for the evening.

before taking a beautiful misty morning drive to Pemberton

and archaic high street

We then headed off to climb the famous Gloucester tree
Posted Image
which at 61m high was used as a fire lookout over the D'Entrecasteaux national park.

First Alex then Terry

It was a long way up but they made it

They could still see smoke from the day before's fire
Posted Image
But were very proud to be there to see it.
Posted Image
We even had a 'thumbs up I climbed the Gloucester tree' club

Before heading back to the resort for a spot of archery
Posted Image
Alex had done this before
Posted Image
And so had Terry
Posted Image
but guess who hit the target every single time and even got a bullseye

At night after the wildlife walk we snuggled up with the log fire, played on the Wii, cards and generally had a laugh and were joined by a couple of young kangaroos beneath our balcony.

Sunday morning we did a fair old hike up to the walk through hollow tree. Photos of which are on Terry's camera and he tells me they are too big to upload

I don't think there is a muscle in my body that doesn't ache but it was so worth it. What a fantastic weekend with family and friends

Last October we went, so about 7 months.

ohippy - what way was Jill different if you didn't recongnise her? Her weight has changed so many times in the few years I've know her, as much as five stone!!!!!!!!!!
