Get her a quote for automatic retic and write her an advert for a house sitter, so when she asks if you'd mind doing it again you can say, sorry no but these may help. What about the neighbour, is she still in hiding??

still not seen the other neighbour for love nor toffee although she was obviously around as she picked up the paper, used the bins etc.

I suspect my friend will ask said neighbour again but if I am asked to deputise I will have to say no. If you are going to spend months travelling then make sure you don't leave stuff behind for others to do. I went away for a weekend and felt guilty asking a friend to water my two hanging baskets !!

Maybe suggest to her that she needs to set up an irrigation system on a timer as that would cut out half the work. The bins should only need putting back after she leaves and the fish should only need a feed once a day or even suggest to her to buy the food that disperses over a week so you only have to go in once a week to feed the fish and do a quick water change, cancel the papers and get the post office to hold your mail...........or rather not for you but for someone else to do!

Did you say how much time it took everyday?

she did have the food that disperses over a week and that's where the problem started. I think she bought them in the $2 shop so they put a manky oily film on the water and coated the bottom with white stuff which is why I had to water change every day for weeks to get rid of it !!
The fish left is also blind so cannot see the food I fed so I had to aim it into it's mouth which took forever.

As for the bins, it was t'other neighbour filling them :she:

Still, she brought us back a great pressie .................. feck all !! Didn't think about that until now ! I generally spend most of my hols looking for something nice for the people looking after my place !

However, it was that much hassle (and caused rows with OH ) that I will have no problem in saying No next time, she'll need to find someone else
