We finally gave up (Us and the Dr) and went to ENT after Flynns 7th dose of tonsillitis since October.

He looked at his ears, then nose and said "oh, you can tell he's used to this" (yeah, no shit! ) then he looked in his throat and said :omg: they are huge! And apparently they grow again between ages 3 and 5. We talked about antibiotic treatments..daily for 6 months and decided that, due to the fact hes had a gizillion courses since birth, that it really wasn't the way forward. He also said that he was a mouth breather and during episodes of severe tonsillitis he could be getting sleep apnoea (which would explain his hideous sleep patterns!) Soooooo, hes having his tonsils and his adenoids out before the winter sets in...Drs orders :nosepicker:

I'm scared, but also relieved :S

Bless his cotton socks  Hopefully it will be the massive turn around the same as Gemma had after she finally had her tonsils out after years of severe illness. She's not really looked back since so :crossfingers: for Flynn too

I hope that this sorts things out for him poor thing. It is no life having constant throat infections so it will be worth the short term pain to get it sorted once and for all.
Give him a big hug form us.

You won't know him after the op. It's not nice seeing a little one going under the knife but it'll be so worth it.

goodo - i dont know why they dont do t's & a's after the 2nd lot of tonsillitis in kiddies, would save an awful lot of them and awful lot of misery. the op is less painful than a bout of tonsiliitis, and like everyone else said, its icecream for the recovery period!!

As an adult I get it every year to the point where it makes me extremely ill. I was in the "ooo no, its best to leave them in" era :she: :she: I should have fought harder in the UK for Leah too, as she is like me also..
Hes got another dose, but luckily the GP gave me a script before we left

My nephew had tonsillitis about five times a year but it took about 8 years before my brother and SiL could convince the doctors to take them out. They don't need them, if they cause that much aggro then just get them out, what is the point of keeping them? Aggggggghhhhhh

Yeah Bobby's on the waiting list still. Hopefully it wont be too long before he's done as he doesn't sleep well and is always tired. Luckily though he never gets tonsillitis.

The Dr said in the next 3 months as he wants him done before the winter. He said he dreaded to think how he would go when the cold weather starts!

Fraser..How long has Bobby been on the list?

Rachel phoned them today (Sunshine hospital as the wait at the childrens was longer, in fact we still haven't heard anything from them as he is on their list) they had him booked in for May 7th. But we declined that as we fly on the 30th and didn't want to take the risk of him getting an infection before we go. He's now booked in for July 30.

Good luck to both of you. We have struggled through with Joseph and Sam in countries that don't do the op unless they are at death's door and I really wish that they had had theirs done.
