We've been staying with my sister and her menagerie for the last couple of months and my two dogs are now nervous wrecks. She has three dogs herself and three cats as well as various other wildlife. In fact, that includes JOHNNY the rainbow lorikeet that they've had for 6 years and has just this week laid 2 eggs!!! Need to call him Jenny now I think. Anyway, I digress. All my sister's dogs are bigger than mine and are males, whereas my two babies are girls. Not been any problems with pecking order at all. The problem lays with one of my sister's cats, Boris. He has taken it apon himself to ambush them at every opportunity. He'll hide himself up behind the pc, coffee machine, wood burner, anywhere that gives him a height advantage and wait for one of my two to slowly amble past then he leaps onto his victim's back and sinks his claws in! Several times we've heard massive screaming and yelping and a dog will scurry off with a black and white furry razor slashing at their rear ends as they run.

The other two cats are really placid but they only have to walk into a room now and our two dogs will run off and hide. I now have two dogs that are terrified of cats :S

O dear poor dogs. Our cats terrorise our labrador too, even eat her food and get on her bed, and she just stands by and whines because she is too scared of them to growl or bite them or chase them away. At least your dogs will be able to move out when you move and get away from the moggy terrors.

ah, poor things. It was like that to begin with in our house and then Muts decided to join in their games and generally wins due to his size !! We have scratch marks everywhere from where they fly past things. OH is threatening divorce but I do prefer my animals

It's amazing isn't it what power those little furry pointy-eared purrballs have over massive dogs several times their size.

Yet see who skitters out of the house and who remains to bark and snarl and guard it if ever there's a break-in :D
