My mum has a great big jar she fills with coins, she has done this for years. When we were kids we used to count it for her and put it in the little plastic bank bags and take it into the bank. Don't remember how much she used to get but remember being very excited.

No idea if they have the change counters here, I rarely go into banks and don't have a change jar but I think I might start one :thumbsup:

I have one for 5c, another for 10c, another for 20c, another for 50c, another for $1 and another for $2.

Why didn't I just say: I have a jar for each coin !!!

The problem is that I use them to provide pocket money, and lunch money, and cinema money etc etc etc for my 12 year old !!!

I should do a count up...

$2 = $4 (i've been raided !!!)
$1 = $3
50c = 12.50
20c = 8.40
10c = 7.00
5c = 11.50

I just remembereed where the $2 & $1 coins went. 3 weeks pocket money, as I hadn't paid her for 3 weeks !

Total in hand today $46.40

I use empty Rondoletti tins (those long round chocolate wafers) for mine.

Actually ABC you have made me think, if I had a jar for all my coins it would never fill up, kids and husband would raid it all the time :no:

We used to have an old whisky bottle for years, couldn't lift it if it got past 1/2 full, got broken a few weeks before the big move, now I have a plastic grey jar (thats for my reno stuff) and an old ashtray (even tho we don't smoke) from Devon Cliffs, use that for $1 and 50 cent pieces for bus fares and lolly money at school.

we used to have a huge vodka bottle, can't remember how much we got out of it, but paid for dinner out - and no we didn't take it all out to the restaurant -we changed it up first.

I have a Mickey Mouse tin that used to contain sweets - i stick all my change in there and it has come in useful when i need change for the milkman or the boys need small change for something at school.

I have a change box. It's a pretty box with a lid my niece sent me one year with a tiny birthday teddy bear in. I empty my purse out at the end of every week before going to the bank for "this week's money". I use it for treats, a coffee out, I've even got a bottle of wine sometimes - or if I've had an expensive week and need a little extra. There's never more than $10 or so in it but it's really handy and nice to know there is somewhere to go to have a little treat. Not much in it at the moment... :no:

We've got a sunshine yellow, plastic pudding bowl for all our loose change. Whatever change we have at the end of the day is put into it - well almost, cos I hang onto any 50p and up coins. Use it all the time when I need bus fares or odd change. When we do bag it up we always get £15 - £20, which pays for a nice little treat. I once had a giant plastic coke bottle, after a year or so I had £360 odd pounds in it. Paid for a nice wee break away :dance2:
