There were almost fireworks in my house last night !!

I was teaching my daughter to make fruit slice, but she didn't want to do the washing up afterwards !!!

Maybe I should have taught my wife how to make the fruit slice instead, she does the washing up automatically without being asked :)

I like Bonfire night - more flipping traditional than halloween  but have to say I prefer the big displays rather than a few rockets in the garden so we are off to one on Saturday night at Jordan's school.

we were remembering how, as kids, we would go to a local park and watch the massive bonfire and a great firework display, all put on by the council - every park in sheffield had a bonfire. now they charge about a fiver per person for one pathetic offering in the don valley bowl

I loved bonfire night, we used to go to a display at our church with bbq, display at work with fairground rides which was awesome and had a display at home with wood burner. Loved them all and miss it more than I thought

is that the new year one ?

They are being mean this year - we used to have fireworks at the nippers festival, crabfest, Aus day and twice at New Year (and a couple of other times too that I can't remember) but this year they have already knocked the nipper ones on the head and they swear blind they've never had them Aus day (don't get me started on that one !!) so now we are done to just new year and crab fest. Even the nippers festival was now just one day and not two. There seems to be less and less happening on the foreshore each year

This year, you'll never guess what, oh yes, Tallulah will be doing the parade - is there anything that happens around here that she doesn't dance at ?????

No fireworks here in SA - I haven't seen any since I was last in the UK 5 years ago. They don't celebrate the English tradition of 5th November here. Halloween is celebrated but not like the UK or USA.

The Christmas Pageant was today in Adelaide. Most people will now be putting up their Christmas tree!

Bit of an oxymoron, that? No WISE lady would sit on a camel.

Anyone here ever ridden a camel, BTW? I did years ago in Alice Springs. One of the elderly American women I was with described them as "real f@nny slappers". That had the rest of us in fits of laughter and I've never forgotten it. She was spot on though.
