Always a load cheaper in QLD. Lowest here is $1.269.

Was pretty good filling up the Patrol with gas the other day though. With an 8c discount docket - paid 58c / litre.

Seriously irritated yesterday. Filled up at a Caltex for $1.18 with the voucher. Two hours later drove past the Coles one and it was $1.15. Grumble grumble whinge whinge :D

I suppose it depends what "filling up" means in terms of total litres bought. Sometimes if I stop and work it out it's not worth the worry. I just budget for $25 a week ($30 if I know I'm working extra days or making a little extra trip out somewhere) put that in and at the end of the week I have a little more left over or a little less but because I can't measure it accurately (it's just the needle at a different angle on the gauge) I don't get upset. Now when it was about 1.50 or more a litre and I couldn't get through the week's work trips for $25 and HAD to put $30 in I was a bit ticked off.

I just get it Monday night regardless and have stopped chasing the cheapest and don't bother with dockets as I never spend that much in one hit at a major supermarket. It's one thing less to stress about.

I often wonder about that aswell.

I did some calculations, (well, you know what I am like :member: )

I saved $33 this year using the 4c dockets, but if I eased back my speed slightly, and cut my fuel consumption by just 10%, I would have saved another $125.

And that is changing from 6.9 km per litre (19.6mpg) to 7.6 kms per litre (21.6mpg). My car should get better than that anyway, but I have a heavier than average right foot :)

don't forget too - keep your windows closed, your air con off and, for those with a manual car, accelerate slowly and smoothly and you save even more.

However, have to say, I used to get 450km out of a full tank of petrol and now only get just over 400km :dunno:
