I am getting sick and tired of driving Shane around everywhere, to work, to his girlfriends house, to cricket practice and matches etc. He has his L Plates and we have bought an old hyundai excel manual for the teenagers to learn to drive and as a second car when needed. He has had three professional driving lessons which we have paid for but he refuses to have any more as he does not want to pay for them himself. Jason has taken him out a few times but as he works long hours and Saturdays, he does not have much time. So far I have refused to have anything to do with taking Shane for driving lessons but this afternoon he needed to get to cricket practice and was refusing to go unless he could drive, so I agreed as I think he needs to get his hours up and do his driving test as soon as possible and start driving himself places.

OMG have I gained more grey hairs in the 15 mins I took him driving. It was a terrifying experience. He stalled pulling onto a busy roundabout three times and the cars behind us were getting irrate (not that I was worried about them) and finally got going and pulled out in front of a car already on the roundabout. He also decided to change lane with a truck speeding along (I had to grab the steering wheel to stop us being crushed by the truck. He was then driving along nicely, keeping to speed limit etc when lights ahead turned red, car in front slowed and stopped, Shane kept driving at same speed and only braked suddenly when I screamed BRAKE and we stopped about a millimetre from the car in front.

After we moved on again, I asked him to slow down when he sees lights changing to red and he just tells me not to stress.

I am leaving the driving lessons up to Jason from now on, there is no way my nerves can cope with it.

God, sounds like a nightmare. Heather is being really slow about doing the theory test, does keep doing the online test though. When she does pass that, she'll be going out in Kevan's Ute because it's big, old and manual. She's going no where near my CR-V and I won't be taking her out in the Ute because, well, just because :D Kevan's turn, I get the sometimes too personal info, he can teach her to drive

Oh dear Mel. We'll I feel slightly guilty then in saying that Alex is going great guns with his driving. He is confident, but not cocky, listens to what Terry and I both tell him, and is able to make transition between my automatic Falcon wagon and Terry's manual old ute very well. He drives everywhere that we go and will be driving us all the way to Boddington tomorrow. I'm going to find out what the waiting list is like for taking the test as I am already quite sure that Alex will be more than ready to take his test in March when he is eligible.

Some stupid barsteward cut him up really badly as we were turning into our road the other day and I was really impressed that Alex managed to react the right way. Slammed on the brakes whilst holding the steering wheel tight and shouting 'blanker!' at the barsteward
