Shane refused to go to school today, I tried everything to get him to get out of bed, I took his doona and pillow off him, sprinkled him with icy cold water, removed his phone and computer, but nothing would get him up, so I gave up stressing myself and ignored him. About an hour ago he gets up and says he is going to a party tonight and needs me to buy him some vodka cruisers. No chance I replied but then he started nagging and bribed me and said if we went to the bottle shop and I got him his drinks he would buy me some wine. He paid for it all. God I am a bad mother, I was bribed for some wine :o But the way I look at it is if I did not buy his alcohol for him, he would get someone else to do it and he will be able to buy his own in another few months anyway. Jason will kill me though  |

Lol at Soapy, it would not be worth the grief he would cause if I did that. There is no point in me telling him he cant go out tonight, he would just say he is going and what am I going to do about it. I know it seems like I am a soft touch and give in to him, but I just want an easy life. Sasha next time I will ask him for 2 bottles of wine. I am counting the days until he leaves home. Its a shame he is still not planning on returning to UK, he has become very australian and has decided he is going to uni in Brisbane, and thinks he will still live at home (have not broken it to him yet that it wont be an option). Anyway if he keeps skipping school he wont get into uni anyway and actually that does not bear thinking about because he might live at home forever :scared: |

After reading that, I'll have to do something special for my daughter today. She was tired when she woke up this morning, had a bit of a sore throat, and maybe a cold coming on, she lay down next to me at about 6:45 really tired, and I suggested she take a day off school and stay in bed. But no, she went and had a shower, then breakfast. But still she seemed tired, so again I said "stay home and go back to bed", but no, she had a panadol, and I took her to school. They even gave her a panadol at school yesterday, and gave her the option to home early, but no, she'd rather go to school. She is a bit odd isn't she ? But in a nice way... I've often wondered why other parents seem to want to swap kids with me... |

ABC you are lucky. Shane was a nice kid once too, but teenage hormones took over and he changed into a selfish monster, never mind, I have hope he will one day become nice again. Holly is also a teenager, 20 months younger than him and she is fine, goes to school, works hard, gets sporting and academic awards, is pleasant and helpful, so its not in the way they were brought up I dont think, its just their personalities. Well peace reigns again in this house, he has gone back to bed  |

I am a bit worried about what happens when she hits the teens... and starts talking to boys !!! She might even turn out like I was, and be a rebel !!! |

Jeez he never went to the party, he went to work instead and got home at 6am (he worked an overnight shift at McDonalds). He was supposed to be playing cricket this morning but of course conveniently forgot to mention it until his coach phoned about 30 minutes ago asking where he was. I just passed the phone to Shane as I am not making excuses for him. He is a nightmare, no sense of responsibility whatsoever to his team or coach. I have had a talk with him but all I get is him lifting up his hand and telling me to shhhhhh!!! Well I know he will get his comeupance (sp?) one day and hopefully it will be very soon. Anyway I asked him to remove the alcohol from the fridge and he replied he is going to a party tonight and will need it then. He has now gone back to bed. |

Its hard, I actually do feel like punching him but he is taller than me and I am not a violent person, so I just tell him I am disgusted with his apalling behaviour and walk away. He will get whats coming to him soon enough  |

You're far more patient waiting for karma than I would be. Heather occasionally, when told something she doesn't want to hear, does the 'whatever' with bored look routine. I go ballistic :she: I know I couldn't deal with Shane if he was mine. So far I've been lucky with mine but no doubt my turn will come - probably with Abs. |

Couldn't believe this when I read it! You have to be the softest mother on earth. I'm with Soapy! There is no way he would have gone out if he'd been mine! Like Soapy I'm talking from experience as I have 4 sons. They all knew the rules and what would happen if they were broken and I have to say I broke my heart when they left home. |
