after a lot of delibertaing I finally gave in and went to the dog rescue and got a dog! I really think I'm mad, but he is very cute, craves attention, needs some training and will probably drive me insane.

I only went on Friday to have a look at the poor pooches and there he was, He's pretty ugly actually. A pug cross with goodness knows what (think he's got some terrier in him). My BIL reckons he should be called Frank after the dog in MIB but the boys have decided on Rocky.

once i find my camera charger I will attempt to post pictures of ugly betty.
he is fine, i've had some training tips from the vet - poor dog has been spoilt rotten in his previous homes and can't for the life of him understand why he is not allowed on the sofa or beds!!! I'm getting there with him, we have taught him, sit, stay, bed, paw and he is responding to his name.

if he's been spoilt - why was he at a rescue centre ?

basically the first home he is was in had no time for him and let him get away with whatever he wanted for a quiet life and so the dog ended up in the home/rescue centre. Another couple took him and the guy developed a severe allergy to the dogs fur and ended up in hospital. Poor dog just needs some basic training and some proper fuss and love.

The place I got him from is more of a dogs home but they do have rescue dogs - one there at the moment will probably never be rehoused as she was rescued by the police from someone who used her for fighting. The dog is badly scared mentally and physically. Such a shame as I bet she was a gorgeous dog at some point.

I hate things like that. It also annoys me that people get animals and then give them up because of stupid silly reasons. You can't do it to your kids (shame) so why do it to animals you've taken on.

Will get off my soapbox now.

hmmm I kinda looked at that, but the ones at the local centre will not go to homes with children and a dog

that's strange. Sometimes they do say not young children but yours aren't young and more often that's dogs :dunno: Most rescue centres try out the cats with dogs and children or, sometimes, know the background as to whether they are ok or not but to just blanket say no kids or dogs will dramatically cut down the number of people who can adopt them  As for RJS - I did try and talk you out of it but you went back without me !!!!!!! I'm just sad I can only have three

Alli can guess is that the cats were either badly treated before or they just say that - no idea, but the 6 that are listed the requirement is no kids or dog. the list at the vets wasn't that great either. But I'm going to leave it for now anyway as the dog is stressing me out enough as it is

Soon enough he will grow up and calm down. I am dying to see a picture of him.

Daisy will be 3 in January and she is like a grumpy old lady already. She was a nightmare until she was 15 months old and chewed her way through our house and garden, but now she is really good.

A day in the life of Daisy goes like this

0600 Open garage door and Daisy peeps out from her kennel

0730 Daisy hears the toaster pop up and comes out of bed for some toast and peanut butter (in cold weather she stays in bed and breakfast is brought to her)

0900 Goes outside for wee and falls asleep on her bed outside

1430 Wakes up and goes to side gate to wait for kids to get home from school

1530 Gets excited as kids home, jumps around a bit and then has to go back and have a rest on her bed

1700 Long walk and chase ball

1800 Home for big drink and dinner

1830 Allowed into house and falls asleep on rug in front room - usually farts and snores a bit

2100 Outside for wee and when she comes back in she stands at garage door waiting, open door and she gets straight into her kennell
for big nights sleep

She never barks or chews things anymore. I reckon she has a better life than most people.

LOL Mel
I think our poor mutt is just so confused - we are trying hard to train him as he has (I think anyway) had very little in the past. He is so stubburn but very clever and has got used to our routine pretty quickly. he keeps bitting Jordan's feet for some reason - not in a bad hurtful way. I guess we are just not used to having a dog around and we need to get used to him as he needs to get used to us.
I think he thinks he is human !

generally if they nip like that they are trying to herd you - but that isn't typical for a pug !!!
