Ive got to meet the Real Estate agent at 2.30pm today to go and do the inspection on my house. I shall go armed with a hairdryer to test the sockets, I have to check the air conditioning. Any other suggestions on what to look for, I have never bought a house before. Oh Gobbyjock how I wish you were here with me, Mr PP is working and I can just imagine you going through the house testing everything and not being scared to speak out. Ive already told my agent about you and your rental experience, he knows you are a force not to be messed with. :kissed: Any suggestions on what I have to check? |

How did it go? I didn't see this in time to say check the taps to make sure that the water drains OK and look for problems with guttering. I hope that everything went well. We needed to check that plugging more than 3 things in at once won't blow the circuit (which it does on occassion) also check what sort of fuse box you have as if it is an old house it can cost a lot to bring it up to code if you ever want anything doing. Nicky :) |

It went OK, a bit scary to see the house in such a mess and in need of a clean but then the poor woman is in the process of moving out. The paintwork REALLY needs changing - too much blue  but as soon as we can afford it we will do that. The garden fence is in URGENT need of being fixed and even if we buy the colourbond to do it, Mr PP and I are rubbish at DIY and we dont have tools, and we cant afford to waste anything we do buy so will have to get it done professionally - for the sake of my dog who will be coming next week - all being well. The lady is lovely, her dad is going to do some temporary security to raise the height of the gate by using tough tarpaulin material so my dog Rocky can be kept in safely. We collect the keys at 10am next Sunday and will have very little time to move in as we will have the vehicle until 5pm. My friend and I are going to leave the men to it, get Gordon secured in the spare room and hopefully drive to Yanchep to get Rocky (and see Selina who I cant wait to see :kissed: ) I feel sick at the thought of moving, I have loved living here and love Freo but we have to move into our own little place and financially it is going to be tough - we have $150 in the bank till we both get paid on Wednesday  As we have had to shell out constantly this month as you can imagine. It is a mixture of excitement, fear and 'oh god what have we done' - our mortgage payments are so much higher than our rent but at least it will be ours and I can't imagine what that is going to feel like. We are going to do several trips with the transit van and rock up at 10m for the keys and move in a bit after I guess. Then I shall finish cleaning the rental on Monday and supervise the carpet cleaning. I cant wait till this is over. :ooer: |

Spearwood. Anything to do with the mortgage or the move itself or any organisational part of it and I get completely exhausted with a dire need to sleep. Wish my glands would go back down and I could feel stronger, they seem to have been permenantly swollen for the past few months which makes moving house really hard to organise. Thanks for the good wishes everyone - this time next week it will all be over. |

I don't know what's going on. We were meant to settle on Monday - well we still are, ANZ will take the money out of our account as planned, the seller said we can pick up the keys tomorrow and move in at 10am on Sunday - sorted or so I thought. Crappy broker (dont ask but she is), told me today that the seller's settlement has been moved to Tuesday. Now does this mean as our settlement is Monday that she gets our money going into her account? Can we still move in as planned? I hope so because we are homeless as of Monday. Now I know the laws of settlement dictate that it can go 3 days either way, but Im wondering if we still settle does that mean she gets the money and the settlement on her part is something different? Our agent has said not to worry, the seller said she is staying with her parents, but he will phone her to check its all OK - there was no furniture in there when I went in last week. Im so worried I feel like being sick and my glands are swollen again, well they never really went down. Please help. |

Your settlement agent should be telling what is going on mate, that is what you are paying them for, as far as Im aware the settlement is when the banks/settlement agents meet up and divvie up the money, so the money would not go to her until after the settlement I`d have thought. We had to wait by the phone for a call, saying it had all gone through before we could get our keys (the settlement was at 12.30 I got the call later in the afternoon). |

Well we are officially settling on Tuesday now - her bank changed it. I wonder how many times the bank can change the settlement date? :nah: I had a text from the agent tonight telling me everything was still on and fine for us to move in tomorrow - the seller is living with her Mum and said we can move in - which is very decent of her. I cant wait till its over. I started cleaning/packing at 12noon today - we bought all the furniture down dismantled except the mattress/suitcases/bin bags and washing machine. We get the trolley tomorrow to bring the washing machine downstairs. I have cleaned and everything and I am so tired/achey its not true. Abdel and I are going to have a cold beer when he gets in. The final hurdle and oh how stressful it is.  |

Yep I am in now, with my new rescue kelpie puppy who is being a little git and has chewed his sutures out from his desexing, leaving one tiny stitch in with no threads to cut it - a trip to the vet to have that taken out on Monday I think. I am very nervous of being in the house, paranoid about termites and the fact there is no security screen on the small bathroom window - I am such a wuss :blushing: The house had termite treatment done about 6 years ago and the inspection last month revealed no signs of termite activity at all but I guess I must have something to worry about. I bought the kelpie a kong today and filled it with his puppy meal, I have barely seen him all night and had to go to his bed to see if he was OK and he is lying down with his pile of toys around him and his new kong in his mouth. :kissed: Mr PP is working xmas day so I guess it will be my first xmas alone in my house - I shall get plenty of wine in I reckon. |

Cheers guys  Well the guy has finished putting up the fencing and super kelpie is trying to suss it all out. He is going to be a garden dog from tomorrow while I am at work, so he is in his kennel now trying to get the peanut butter out of his Kong (Thanks Gobbyjock  ). Abdel is thrilled about the book and has told me he will read it when he gets home - I am nervous now  Rocky Loved H. though didn't he? He is so good with kids. The fencing man had another beer after you had all gone - god his arm looked sore (he fell from the wall while Gobbyjock and family and I were talking, we never heard or saw a thing. He has all scratches to his arm and it looks so sore but he refused any offers of help and said he didnt need a tetanus. It is going to cost us $950 each (between me and the neighbour) to replace and dispose of the asbestos fence down the middle so that will have to wait till we can afford it. Getting the house termite treated is the priority as it is a high risk. It has gone silent out there, better check on the Kelpie. |

Glad to hear that you are in and settled so quickly  . The stress will die down although super kelpie sounds like he will keep you on your toes (my firend breeds them and although they are lovely I think that they are a bit too energetic for us  ). Would love to see some piccies of the house as soon as you can get them as I am just nosey by nature  . Good luck and I hope that you enjoy your new home. We are just starting to feel settled in ours after a year (so by our standards it is probably about time to move  ). Nicky |

Rocky has a bad habit of mouthing Gordon - he doesnt apply pressure but makes him very wet and slimy. He sometimes chews Gordons tail, Gordon is remarkably tolerant of the puppy and even spits cat food out on the floor and watches the puppy eat it. Gordon will give 'fresh kicks' and periodically smack the puppy's face but then he will play bow with his bum in the air and play with Rocky. Tonight Rocky was asleep by the sofa and Gordon was batting his ears trying to wake him up. I think they will get on just fine but Gordon has his own space in the spare bedroom where he can eat/drink, use his litter tray and just take time out from what can be a full on puppy. The stress of moving really upset him so I think he needs his own space. The house I think was built in 1973, I have just chatted to our neighbour and he is going to get some more quotes and we will split the bill, he even said he will help Mr PP and I level out the garden - he seems a really nice guy. I am paranoid about my water consumption meter, there was me thinking I had paid my water rates up front but it didnt include consumption. Showers rationed I guess and I shall charge people to pee. |

Super Kelpie is crashed on the floor now. I can't believe how nervous I am of everything, next door had termites in his kitchen over a year ago and got it treated. Our house had a treatment about 8 years ago - perhaps less. My friends dad did the termite inspection and said that didnt mean termite activity, just that they had a treatment and no sign of any activity now. God I am paranoid, about termites, about security, about everything - I feel very vulnerable right now - is that normal? :blushing: |

bloody hell sam, id say its perfectly normal!! after the last 3 or 4 years of living basically on a knife edge of stress after stress, you are starting to set your own roots - its bound to be a bit 'unusual' to say the least!!!!!! :flowers: :flowers: :flowers: |
